Had to tow a friend up to my place so we could fix the 5th gear nut on his. Ran like a dream, running 80 down the interstate with EGTs between 1000 and 1100 most of the way( is that too high). Thought I would share some pics.

Not bad for an old pickup, you should have seen the looks on peoples faces when we blew their doors off going by them at 80!!!

Frowned upon? Like maybe in the 2nd gen areas???:) Thanks for the complements, I figure I had to take advantage while I still could. As soon as we get the transmission fixed, bombing will commence, he joined the TDR and has been absorbing info for the last 2 days. Once we get the fuel plate in there, I will probably be left in the dust. Oh well, at least I get to help build it, one of these days I'll have one and the knowledge will come in handy. And no, that doesn't mean I would ever sell the 1st gen, it's paid for, and has taught me everything I know about diesel motors. Can't part with something like that, now can I? On a side note, I haven't pulled since I found the fuel screw, put on the BHAF, 3000gsk, fuel pin, etc and boy was I impressed!!! 80 mph, with what I consider a pretty decent load, I finally have the truck I've always wanted!!

Hmmm 80 mph and only 1000-1100 on the pyro? Thats very good really. If I try and run with a load like that, at that speed my pyro is a problem. Then again I run a taller tire, and a more heavy trailer. I would be ecstatic about that low of a pyro reading, while towing.

Let me ask you this. What is the lay of the land out there? Typical kansas? Flat? That might have something to do with it. Here in iowa, no mountians, but unending rolling hills. Pyro runs up to about 1200-1300 at the top of most hills going down the interstate at 72mph, cruise on of course, overdrive too!! I know what you mean when you say, you have the truck you always wanted.

VERY NICE LOOKING RIDE!!

Well it was a 2 hour trip. The first hour is pretty flat, then you get into the Flint Hills, and it's pretty hilly. Speed held pretty close even going up hills, and I never let the pyro go over 1200. I even held 70 going up a monster hill coming into town!
