I ran a stock hx35 with my tst and 100hp sticks and it would spool before you even thought of hitting the throttle. The temps would hit 1600 before i could hit 100mph. I have a pdr40 on there now and i feel its a really good match. With the tst on anything from 5-9 it spools quickly and is a good around town driver. If the transmission grabs a gear early than it might lag a bit and belch some smoke out (but that depends on how hard the loud pedal is pushed;).

I did notice though that with the tst on lower levels like 0-2 i would only hit about 30lbs instead of 40lbs with the higher setting.

I've been told be a few people that the HX40 is not a good towing turbo. I think you probable need more fuel especially for an 18 housing, and your 3. 54s might cause a bit more turbo lag than 4. 10s.

That's the part that really messes with my thinking, if if need more fuel how come i can leave a steam of black smoke for a city block. you would think if you needed more fuel you wouldn't see the smoke. ive about decided to try a bigger exast man for what i did was open up the exast but still have the stock manifold not feeding the bigger turbo.

TRY it with the waste gate plugged and see what your boost is. Then try to find a 12 or 14cm housing and it will be a different truck trust me. I cant imagine trying to run any thing bigger than a 14.
