ok guys i got the head done on the truck, was out test driving it and got back home and was out looking under the hood, and noticed an oil leak under the engine what at first seemed to be coming from the timing pin, because i had not pushed it back in all the way, soo i thought that was my problem, cool i thought got it pushed back in past the oring, started the truck back up, went back under and saw there was still an oil leak. i took another look at everythin, and from what i can see it looks like it was coming from a gasket that runs down the entire length of the block. now i dont quite know what this gasket is, but my best guess is that it is the lifter galley cover gasket, and when i blew my head gasket, it put enough pressure on the gasket ot make it leak. my question is, what excatly is this gasket what does it do, and how hard is it to replace?? it looks a bit complicated due to the injection pump being in the way. so if anybody has had this problem before let me know what exaclt to do, not do. thanks

The gasket is pretty easy to fix/replace but you are correct the injection pump needs to be removed. You might try and see if any of the 4(?) 10mm bolts are loose, maybe they can be tightened a tad and the leak will stop.

if you are talking about the tappet cover gasket it is pretty easy to replace. the only catch is the ppump must come off. my leaked a bit so doug conrad and i replaced it one evening when i drove up.
