I need a VP44 and the best price is from The Diesel Shop, I got my RV nozzles from them and they were prompt in shipping. Has anyone had a problem with their pumps?? I would like to keep my 98,5 for a long time and want a good one. I also have a 99 that has problems, hard to start warm, POOR milage but no codes. I might be looking for two of them.

ALso Can anyone point me to the thread that gives the best procedure for changing the pump????

Thanks

Got mine from Advanced Diesel Technology, he carries Industrial Injection pumps. They are very reliable & he will price match competitors. 304-864-3399

Mine is from Midwest Fuel Injection. As JGates said "They are great to deal with and have a top quality product!"

Everyone is using the "new" electronics on VP44 rebuilds. I have a Blue Chip pump, even spent the extra for his "Special X" pump. I did pick up about 1mpg, so far it's a very good pump, my truck is all stock with the in-tank lift pump. It hasn't missed a beat for just over a year.

I would like to thank all of you for your help. The video from Diesel Dan is wonderful and explains everything. I am going with Midwest they have the best price and I have bought from them before.

Thanks again

If you are doing it yourself Here is a time saving trick that will save you some hassle also.

Do not remove the injector lines from injectors # 3-5-6 they are bolted together in a set they will push back out of the way plenty far enough towards the block to remove the pump. all you need to remove are the front 3 that are in a set. #1-2-4.

A good idea, What is the crank bolt torqued to and how hard is it to get off. I am running without the fan so there is plenty of room to get at the cover but I have not looked at the crank bolt. I have a automatic transmission so how do I hold it still? The bracket that supports the pump is broken so I am going to be under it to remove the power steering pump to replace the bracket. Also someone warned me not to remove the vacuum pump while the VP44 was out cause the gear will fall down and timing will be lost. I would like to thank whoever it was that gave me that advice.

What a great site

Thanks all

Robert

You don't have to pull the cover, just get the KDP jig & drill the hole & tap it, then insert the bolt.

If you KDP has moved the jig wont work. Also should locktite the case bolts while its apart(same reason). On balancer bolts I'm seeing 30ftlbs plus 60* and they are torque to yield so should be replaced.
