HOLY ***T man this thing rocks!

I'll post the full (not so happy) story later tonight.

For now I'm curious as to the Torque numbers. Anybody got a clue? DD said 115-120 additional RWHP. So with a 235 FWHP. That might be close to 325 RWHP total, huh?

And the stock clutch is holding it! Well it does slip on 5x5, but now that I've learned how to drive it, I don't slip it on 3x5, 4x2, or 5x3 (well that's tricky but I can do it).

I'm on my first full tank now and have gotten the hang of 'Smoke on Demand' so the mileage might bounce back up. A partial tank with it resulted in 17. 9--and I've done that without the box!

more later.

Oh, and I WILL BE GETTING A SOUTHBEND--that's next!

And FINALLY I've seen 1300 and 1400 on the pyro.

Oh and how much boost is safe with the stock turbo? I hit 36 no problem and nearly 40 every now and then. I'm sure she'll top 40 with the SBC.

back after while:D :D :D !!!

DD-UFM

Keep on Sootin!! Proram:D :D

Full Report

I was wanting to put in dd3's, but the :D factor is so big now, I can wait a while. Oh, and the SBC HAS to be next.

So I pick this thing up used from a guy known to Keith at DD. I tried to negotiate the price down $25 and he said--well that 25 should cover shipping and all, so I agreed. UPS took 10 Days to get it here. (NO more ground BOMBS for me) I had Blue Chip 2nd-day a cover to me. It finally gets here and there's NO paperwork and NO elbow and I have to follow the UPS guy to the store to get a money order to cover the postage!!!

The seller had sent it postage collect to save himself some time at the UPS place. Which I knew about, but to require MO or certified funds for 15 bucks!?

So I got online and posted "Comp 911". Bob Wagner posted a PDF for me, thanks Bob. I just happened to have a boost elbow given to me by the local Diesel Horsepower Products guys. Otherwise I'd still be ranting about that.

I got it all plugged in and ready to go. Fired up the truck and it started raining:( .

So I spun here and there until I found some dry roads:cool:

I was expecting more boost and higher EGT's and more power and tire spinning and clutch slippage. What suprised me was the different sound of my engine. It's more rattley. I turned the box off once;)(the only time) to confirm this, and I was right.

And then trying to watch the road, the smoke, EGT, FP, and Boost gauges is an eyefull. The roads have gotten suspiciously shorter around here. And shifting-- good gracious I'd never be on the limiter before, but got 'all up in it' before I learned to shift way more quickly.

My clutch is doing fine if I stay up in the R's. Lean on it down low and slip city.

And I finally got to the far side of the EGT gauge, but that was on WFO level 5 launches and then it was after 90mph and only there for a few seconds. With a SBC it will be easier to peg that needle, but babying the clutch-it ain't bad.

The truck is a whole different animal. If you haven't BOMBed yet--I highly recommend it. I'm driving around on 3 all the time.

What about over-boost? I'm hitting 38-40 on 4-5 and know that that's a bit much. My elbow doesn't appear to have any adjustment. It has a tiny orafice and a small hole to the outside, but I don't see a screw as some have talked about.

And the numbers. Since I can't compare my truck to the #'s at DD's site I pulled the info from PE's site.

Looks like:

1 240/550

2 260/610

3 275/650

4 300/720

5 325/780

Yeah I know, my mileage may vary. Close enough for #2 work.

Hunting PSD's and miniMaxs now with a vengeance. :p
