GAIL'S GOING TO SMILE BIG-TIME

We had a FB-111 crash at loring out in the timber. The rumor I heard was that a farmer took some shots at it before the crash, I can't say if that was true. It did happen during winter and they had to build a road to the wreckage. The occupants ejected, I understand the whole pod ejects ?. Big would know more then I about the pod.

It was developed for supersonic ejections, It was said to have an outboard motor ? & I KNOW for a fact that a pin could be pulled on the control stick to act as a bilge pump for water landings. Although It was my Primary aircraft I hardly worked on them as I volunteered to Crew Chief at a FAC base to help the Cambodian People. Actually I could have cared less about the adults that wouldn't fight for themselves it was the children that were being slaughtered in some ways that made Hitler look like a Saint, for some UNKNOWN REASON to me IT JUST PXXXED ME OFF

It’s a rare aircraft that can take off with full seats ( or bomb bays) and full fuel.

That is a real question about U-Tapao? The run way was 11,500 feet, and the B-52s took off first then the KC-135s. Some said the KC-135 would have to be in the air first, however that is not what we saw occurring. Flight to Hanoi, N Vietnam was only 650 miles.

The Sattahip Transmitter Building denotes the loacation of the USCG Loran C Master Station that I was a member of the construction crew summer of 1966. VERY noisy when the B-52 took off away from the water, think rattled our buildings. Just noisy when then took off towards us. SnoKing

One friend was an FB-111 pilot and another a crew chief on one. Both had many stories about missions and action. My pilot friend told me taught other pilots to put their ear against the cockpit to learn the sound of the aircraft when it was healthy. It was an incredible aircraft that had amazing capabilities.

Another bad ass plane is the B1. While stationed at Pope AFB in the 80s, we had one show up for an airshow. Word got out around the base to come and see it arrive. It did a high speed pass maybe 500 ft off the deck with afterburners on and wings back, disappeared, did another low level high speed pass, climbed, circled while opening the wings and landed.

C130s did Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System (LAPES). This was the scary end to watch.

8 J-57's probably with water injection for thrust could rattle things to the ground from the tail end.

And, personally observed on more than one occasion, quickly move an occupied and mispositioned outhouse next to the blast fence into next week during a ground run...:D Pretty blue t-shirt you got there sarge!;) C'mon stinky...Off to the showers...get in the back of the stepvan...and KEEP THE DOORS OPEN please!o_O:eek::D

Noticed the C130 We had them bring in supplies to our FAC base, the use of JATO ROCKETS was mandatory for them to leave.
SOMEBODY???? Got the bright idea to light them off on the ground UNATTACHED for the 4th of July celebration.

HA HA HA HA THOSE THINGS REALLY MOVE!!!

We would go over to U-Tapao and stand on the tarmac and watch them slowly lift the wheels on the end of the wings up, up, up, up and up until the fuse did a little jolt up and straighten things out and off they went.

When I was rotating home, I was on a paddle jumper to fly up to Bangkok and a 52 grew jump on with me. It had just been another day in the "office" to them as they had just returned from a mission.

Ever stood on the Taxi pad when an F104 Starfighter kicked it in the xxx, I was afraid my future Great Grandchildren would be deaf

Oh yeah!! Sweet! But that's just a tinkle of the boys compared to the gong of the SR!!! ;):D You could locate each and every internal organ you have by their individual harmonic reactions to the up close SR "vibrations".
