2006 Chrysler 300 diesel

In its first showing, the Chrysler 300C will be getting the all-new, all-aluminum turbocharged V-6 for European markets, and possible North American consumption. The new engine is smaller and lighter than the previous I-5 European diesel, with 3. 0 liters for displacement, producing 207 horsepower and a whopping 376 lb-ft of torque at 1600 rpm. The CRD (common rail diesel) uses high-pressure injection, variable geometry fins on the turbocharger, four-valve heads, and dual overhead cams -- the result is more power while burning less fuel, sending fewer pollutants out the exhaust. Look for diesel 300Cs to use the same five-speed automatic used in the Chrysler Hemi.

The powers that be need to let the good ol' USA have a crack at some of these smaller diesels in passenger cars and 1/2 ton pickups!!

Boy would a 300 look pretty next to the ram. So much torque so little time!!

The wife wants a CRD Liberty but no-go in CA. Not allowed here. We are crossing our fingers for an ok in 06 and if not we may buy used out of state with enough miles on it but even that might be a registration nightmare.

while i like the idea of a diesel 300c [magnum maybe too??] all the new emissions control stuff still bothers me. cats are fine, but the urine poor egr systems that are out on diesels now is mickey mouse. if they can get it done with in cylinder controls [VVT can do it] i'd be interested.

[i am almost tempted to get a chevette and swap in a little 4 banger kubota for commuting to work, especially if i buy one home i am looking at which would leave me with a very long commute]

I bought my 305/555 that way. It had 10k miles on it. DMV verified the VIN, I got it weighed, paid the fees and that's it! The process will be the same for a Liberty.

All the state cares about is that it has over 7500 miles when you buy it. So don't buy a 5k miler in Florida and drive it home to register it. Find a 7500+ mile example and register it here in sunny CA.

Thats what I'm talking about right there, PLEASE pull the trigger on this and similar projects DC!! That bad boy is tuned up pretty darn well from the factory, that would be about 750 ft-lbs and 410 hp from 5. 9 liters

All that torque down low (about 2000 rpm less than the Hemi) should provide some pretty nice mojo. Plus, it probably gets over 30mpg highway (Aunt's Hemi Charger gets around 24). The extra initial cost would pay for itself just like the CTD's do. Plus the future to me is in Diesel. You can't blend anything bio with gasoline to reduce on fossil fuels.

Mercedes has been manufacturing that van for years and just recently started bringing it to the states for Dodge. My neighbor has one that was bought prior to Dodge bringing them over and his has all the Mercedes emblems on it but is identical to what Dodge is selling as the Sprinter.
