I was going to be installing the 3000 rpm kit from Piers and since he is still traveling I decided to ask on here. The directions say that I need to remove the adjusting nut on the springs? What is used to remove this. I have not even looked at my pump on how to do this yet. The directions also say to rotate the engine until the spring comes into view and mark its location, does this mean to mark the adjusting nut with the retainer or mark the position on the engine damper?

Well if you can make out my questions, any help is apreciated.

If you can think of any other tips or tricks, I will listen.

Thanks Adam

First off, have a good magnet on hand. I go into the pump from the cam plate, but others go through the side cover of the pump. You can either mark the retaining nut and count how many turns it takes to get the retainer off, or use a set of verniers to measure the stud height. Either method will work to ensure that the governor fly weights have the same amount of travel. If your idle is affected after install, then you know that the retainer is either to loose or to tight.

I used an old screw driver and ground a notch in the middle of it to loosen the retainer. The job looks tough at first... . but don't let it scare you. Take your time and be sure not to drop anything.
