I went to put in a 3k spring kit in a 913 pump that I am getting ready to put on my 95 and there are already 4 springs in it. Is this normal on a 913? I thought only a 4k kit added a 4th spring.

When I ordered my 3K GSK for my '98, it came with 4 springs. Turned out the 4th was for a 4K kit. Probably cheaper and easier for the supplier to stock just one kit instead of 2. At any rate, install all but the smallest spring for 3K. If you want to install 4K, put them all in. Make sure all the washers are removed as described in the intructions.

FYI only, I found that the Gov. lever was passing below the plate after install of the 3K GSK and I had to adjust it up to hit the lower edge of the plate. Ran great after that.

The 913 pump already had 4 springs in it. I know my 160 and 180 only had 3 stock. Just trying to figure out if this pump already has a GSK in it.

Thanks,

Kyle

I would just install the pump with the current springs. That way if it already has a gsk, you can sell the one you bought. They are not that hard to change with the pump in the truck anyways.

My 1996 180 pump had the 4th spring also and no shims. I installed the City Diesel 3k kit and did not put the 4th spring that was originally in the pump back in. It worked fine except for a touchy throttle. Backing each retainer off 1/4 turn corrected that.
