Just installed the spring kit and BPINE is right, this diffently is the iceing on the cake. The truck pulls stronger and has smoother acceleration also when you go for it, its there all the way to 3800 rpm's. This kit ROCKS.
The only problem I see with it, is at the higher rpm's my egt's increase really fast. I have a 16cm exhaust housing and I see 1300 degrees in 3rd gear now, where before I did not. I feel that if you put in this kit don't take it for granted. You need to be observent in your driving habits.
Once I save up enough money I'll install an HX-40 and hopefully this will slove the high egt's at the upper rpm's.

I'm attempting to put in my BD governor spring kit and am having trouble with the part that says bar the engine over until the governor spring adjusting nut is just to the left of the rocker strap. The angle it is at when I try to make my measurement and to remove the adjusting nut is cocked too far to the drivers side of the truck for me to get in there and do any work. I'm on step 16 for those of you that may have the directions that came with it from BD. Any suggestions as to how to finish the rest of the job would be greatly appreciated. I'm taking a break from it now before I go breaking something out of anger... . lol. Plus it's getting hard to see down in there with the sun going down so I'm probably just going to finish up tomorrow.

BPINE/Joe D. or PIERS,
Is there any dyno numbers for the govenor spring kit, or do you have a seat of the pants feal for the amount of extra HP/Torque a guy with a limited bombing budget could expect with this upgrade? I'm not interested in buzzing my Cummins above 3000 Rpm, but are interested in the amount of the power increase below 3K Rpm. Thanks in advance.

Hey Rebel I'm not sure what other things are done to your truck, but the governor spring will not add any significant power it only enhances the curve and adds muchoo RPM. I wouldn't recommend this as a power mod.

Hey Blair, got it all back together, thanks for the help. Why didn't someone tell me to get this kit sooner? Now I can feel the power through the whole rpm range. Also raised the idle to where it should be. Before I couldn't let out the clutch in 2nd gear or it would stall if I didn't give it any fuel. Not a problem anymore. No more doubt about toying with the powerjokes on the freeway either, it used to max out at 95, haven't tested it yet but I'm sure it will run past that now... lol. Gotta go out and play now.

Just have some prior knowledge with the lingo which I didn't, right Blair?... lol. A barring tool what's that? Boy did I feel dumb. Good thing I know where and what the alternator pulley was #ad
It really wasn't that hard of a job once someone set me straight. Just another checkmark on the todo list of making me some Cummins Rockets #ad

I'll be trying one this weekend, looking forward to the install! I have to reinstall my Hx-40 and #10 cam-plate at the same time. Running the #11 plate and Hx35 with 16cm housing for vacation so I could use my BD exhaust brake. Looking forward to the results everyone has been talking about! The 370 injectors from BD work very nice with the smaller plate and turbo, much better then the 300s.

I thought you might be next DBR. I wish you would leave the HX-40 on for the next vacation I sure would like to know how the combo works for towing. I guess you will have to break down and buy a 4" exhaust break.

Sickly really enjoys towing with his HX40. #ad
It keeps his exhaust temperatures down. For a heavy trailer #ad
like yours, Blair, get the 4" remote vacuum operated BD exhaust brake.

Bpine, the HX40 works very well for towing. I re-installed the HX40 in place of the present HX35/16cm, #11 plate combo with no fueling changes. I noticed no low-end difference (unloaded) and was able to make an additional 4 lbs of boost (38 total) over the HX35/16cm combo. I did notice a lower EGT, around 100 degrees (again, this is all unloaded). I have towed with the HX40 with the # 10 plate with good results, the only problem is that my CenterForce clutch won't hold on a very hard pull and I can't use my exhaust brake. I can't say enough about the BD exhaust brake, it made my trip from Seattle to Chicago and back very easy on the down side of the mountain passes. The rest of my BD toys helped a great deal as well. My GCVW was at 16700 and I never once had a problem cruising the speed limit in or out of the mountain passes. I installed the governor spring kit today and look forward to testing it out this week. The only problem now is that I'm strongly looking at buying a new 24 valve dually auto. Made the mistake of stopping at Dave Smith's on the way back. I would have done the deal that day if it wasn't for all the stuff I have to take off of my truck.

Thanks for the info DBR looks like all I need now is more of the green stuff and I will be set. First I need a clutch then comes the Power. I am just having trouble taking out a perfectly good clutch, just to add more power to a truck that really has enough. Oh well I guess I will get over it.

Blair!!!!!!
I'm shocked #ad

How can this be #ad

A perfectly good clutch is one that takes all the power you can ever put to it, not one that sort of works with stock power #ad

Whaddaya mean you have enough power? Bite your tongue, infidel #ad

For your penalty, you gotta hang around HVAC for an evening and listen to his stories about his overvalved drug addicted Ram. #ad
even caught him pushing his nitrous today to someone wanting more response #ad
