Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Govenor springs question

Is there a way to determine whether or not you have 3k govenor spings without pulling them out? I was told you could know just be sitting in neutral & reving the engine--if it goes past 2800 rpm you have 3k springs. Is this true?

Just put it in 2nd going down the road and floor it see when it stops fueling if it fuels to 3K you got 3K springs.

All the stock 12v's should see close to 3k in nuetral,varies by cpl. With 3k springs that same test will see mid 3's

Yea, mine will rev to 3K in gear, but it stops pulling hard about 2700-2800.
