I went out and thought i'd do a little tinkering with the pump. I had the pump on the test stand last summer. My plate was set just back from the middle. I was going to check the plate position and the aneroid, just to kill some time. Does the plate position have a big affect on the governor lever nose position? I have a #6 plate. I ask because I thought i'd move the plate ahead (which I may regret). With the solenoid down, the nose hits the plate right below the nose on the plate, in other words right before the rack gets out of the pulled back stage. But when I pull the solenoid up, the rocker nose just barely hits the bottom of the plate and if you keep on moving the throttle lever it will go past the tip of the plate. Now I forgot to check where it hit before I moved the plate, good thing I scribed a line there. I'll slide it back and check it. But I was wondering if it would have made that big of difference. Or else I wouldn't think much of the guy that did my pump. It was back when I was doing an internship at the shop, and while I put in the injectors, he calibrated the pump and decided mostly what he was going to do by himself. I don't get the hang-up sypmtoms like I used to get, that I know of, and the truck runs very strong. Can anyone advise me on this? Another thing that I find funny is the back cover on the pump has sealing wire on it. This pump wasn't warrentied, so doesn't that make you wonder? I have some pics of the pump when it was been calibrated, so i'll go over them. But I would appreciate anyones advice on this!
