On the p 7100 pump how is the high rpm,s set up? Is there an adjustment for this or does the gov. spring have be changed. I have read about different vendors selling high rpm springs but a shop i talked to says he just stretches the stock springs to obtain higher defuel point. Is this an acceptable way of doing this?

I dont see how he could stretch the gov. springs I just installed a set of 3K GSK's and there were 4 total springs stock (on each side) and the new springs came with a new seat

I wouldnt try and stretch them and any way you cant change the lbs/in by stretching any way???

Stretching would damage the spring material and these springs have to behave the same way for millions of cycles. you would also increase installed height and ruin the idle and low rpm performance. I have tried different combinations and you can, for example, shim the high rpm springs, but it doesn't sound like the guy ou talked to would ever be allowed near my pump.

I dont think there is any stretching envolved but you can tighten down your stock springs and turn you high idle srcrew in and you will have to re adjust the low idle also, mine will fuel to 3800 with stock springs.
