Spring is now in and I'm ready to smoke some ricers! I just got home from installing my GSK 366 spring from PDR. Many thanks to P-Bob for the detailed instructions. the install was smooth, with only one glitch. In the instructions it said you may be able to remove the pump top without removing one or two of the screws, full fuel, high & low idle. Well I didn't realize that it meant the full fuel was MANDATORY and the other two possibly not. You can take the pump top off with the full fuel screw in, but you can't reinstall it. It will hit the spring loaded lever. In the process of all this I put a knick in the thread of the screw and boogered up the thread a bit. Now I'm just going to be praying everytime I drive it for the next few days that I didn't get any metal shavings in the pump!!! :{ Anyway I ran it out real good, it started right up BTW and now I think I need a tach. My EGT shot straight up to 1200 on the flats going over 85 on the freeway... Full Fuel down a bit and now it is just right. Making almost 30 PSI boost. And NO DEFUELING before shifts!! I'm not close to being a runaway diesel but right now I don't have enough air or headgasket or head integrety to push this old gal anymore. My Bombs are done for a long while. My friend just bought a Ferd Lightning supercharged truck and after I lose in a drag to him, I may be tempted to up it somehow a little later, but right now it is sweet.

BTW just wondering what pump treak settings everyone has with the GSK? BTW I didn't grind the foot... I may do it later, it really smokes enough right now, I'm already #@$%! off too many other drivers... Sooner or later I may accidentally turn an old white and black Highway patrol cruiser all black! #ad
Not bad for the oldest cummins truck out there! #ad

So when you ended up having to remove the fuel screw, did you count the number of turns or threads when you removed it, then put it back in the same depth? If you put it in farther, that would account for the higher idle. 30psi of boost?? Time for some POD's. NonIC'd 30 is a piece of cake, stock.

Yeah, Actually I set it up a little mild at first, to prevent a runaway, then just cranked on the fuel screw, about 2 turns in from stock.

Actually I would like to get PODS but don't have the cash. I don't think I will do any more bombs, without a new PDR head, PDR hx-40, Bank$ intercooler, 60 lb valve springs, etc.

Head not absolutely necessary, IC yeah or if you can find an air to water aftercooler, 60# valve springs nah, turbo YES. Got any good HD or MD junkyards near ya?:D

Bill,

This is L. A. and the junkyard capitol as far as I'm concerened. There are HD/MD junkyards here, why? #ad

Cheap performance! Turbo's, injection pumps, injection lines, air to water aftercoolers, lift pumps, charge air coolers etc, but lets not get this thread off topic. Might have to wait til the AM for the bankers hours guys, GL and Jay etc to chime in on the GSK.

I think the power band is moved higher into the rpm range with the gov spring. My truck really comes to life if I leave my foot on the floor up past 2000, or lets say 3000:D. I'll have to wait to see a dyno sheet where my torque curve begins or if it changes etc.

Yepper! That full fuel screw HAS to be removed to reinstall the top.

A fellow member John G brought me a truck for gov spring install and I dun found his full fuel screw is siezed. As in, it's stuck. Will not move. Darn thing is threaded in so far that just a small bit of thread is showing and I cannot move it one way or another.

Hense, I cannot install the spring.

Funny thing is that if I turned a full fuel screw in that far on a fresh pump, unpleasant things will happen :eek:

I'm not a pump expert but there is no reason that a full fuel screw would simply up and sieze like that. Someone would have had to be really cranking on that sucker. Affraid I'll bust it off it's that tight. :{ :{

By the way John... . Nice truck
