Anybody familiar with a Ford/Mazda M50D 5-speed?

Not new by any means, been out since 2018 in Europe and Asia.

But I noticed some 2024 US models coming out with more GPF.

Maybe there already are US modles with these, I could not easily find a list.

Same principle as the DPF to handle the "soot", still runs a CAT for the gasses.

Sounds like it has the same need for regeneration to keep it clean.

Just thought it was an intresting bit of Diesel Technology making its way to the gassers.

Seems to be a need for GDI engines. As said out for many years overseas.
I think Mitsubishi started these.
Haven't heard about any problems with these GPFs as the particle load is so little from a gasser, I don't know if they even do a Regen or just collect that little particle through the lifespan of the vehicle.
