Welder problem... PLEASE HELP!

I'm currently looking to purchase a GPS system. Wondering if anyone here had some opinions on them and had some recommendations? I've never used one and only know of a few people that have them.

I plan on using it for mapping my property on foot, fourwheeler, and jeep. Using it for some driving directions. Also, using it when I am jeeping at large places like LBL (turkey bay or Colorado).

Right now the GPS V Deluxe from Garmin seems to be the nice happy medium.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Dave

I Use a Garmin etrex in the field but it dosen't have any maps.

I have been looking at the Garmin Quest. About twice the money of the Garmin V, but man is that a slick little unit.

I've got the Garmin GPS 72 and it works great for me on my elk/deer/coon hunting trips. I think it also has the option downloading maps.

GPS is a public (free) system.

If you don't mind hauling around a laptop or palm pilot the EarthMate is a nice inexpensive unit with maps. I bought one about 6 weeks ago for $105 w/shipping, but I saw one a Fry's a week ago for $100 and it had a $20 rebate.

Before you buy a GPS take time to learn the different options. Memory is important. Some units eat batteries fast.

Last year before my trip to Wyoming I bought a Garmin streetpilot 3 delux. I could not be happier. The size is a little large but i can strap it down and adpt. it to a 12 volt wire and save the internal batteries while on the atv.

www.gpsnow.com had the best price last year.

When you get started using the unit there will be about 2 hours of almost pure fustration then when you do catch on you will use it all the time.

One thing that is nice when driving through the Georgia mtn's you can set it to the map page and drive like hell on the straitaways then slow down for the hairpins.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 276C. I use it for street navigation in the truck with voice direction. It also does Blue Charts for boating.
