RB1 or RB4

Hi if you get a NAV radio make sure you get the RB1 it shows map as well as turn by turn and directions. The RB4 doesn't show maps it's just turn by turn and directions. Seems like a small difference but in real life you'll really miss the map function. Cost is almost the same.

I agree and will add that the RB1 will show Artist name and song title when subscribed to Sirius Satellite where the BR4 will not.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago. I don't think I was given an option for the which GPS I wanted. Is there a way I can find out and do you think it's too late to change it?

I think the only way to get the RB1 is to have it dealer installed, which means that you basically have to buy two radios. Stupid! :(

We have a 300C with the navigation package (REC) and I think it has the same software as the RB1. It sure is lacking in detail as compared to the SP3 I have in my truck. It is pretty and easy to use and is good for main roads, but does not do the job on the secondary roads. I think it cost an awful lot for what you get. The radio is very good. jmho.

At only 2 weeks into it I think you have time. Change to the least expensive and do a dealer install of the RB1 or go with the infinity sound which will give better speakers and an amp but make sure its compatible with the RB1

I had ordered the RB4 when I got my truck last July. I was really upset when I found out about the GPS. There is very limited Canada information and nothing for Alaska where I live and real wimpy on the lower 48 states but has Hawaii info in it. I tried to get the dealer in Idaho to do something but to no avail. I sent a letter up the chain to Dodge and some guy called me late summer and said he thought they would have better soft ware coming out for it. If you really want a GPS the Garmin 2610 unit is pretty good and it can be had from GPS city.com for about $750. , retail is around $1000. You can go to the Garmin website and do unit comparison and see what fits your needs. It has a nice moving map display and a couple of different ways of mounting it or a beanbag mount to be portable. The RB4 is not set up so you can program your route it does it for you. It shows arrows to turn left, right and turn around, then this annoying female voice tells you to turn around in 1/2 mile as you are going the wrong way. When I ordered this the dealer claimed they did not know anything about this unit nor did they have any information on it. Pretty lame if you ask me. I wasted $900 on this option for sure as I had gotten it for driving from Alaska through Canada to the lower 48 and around the southwest. When my wife and I start our trip south next week no GPS till I cross the border at Sumas, so we will see what happens then.

Try another dealer. I asked my rep when I ordered mine. You can only order the RB4 with it. I skipped this option and went with the regular radio that came with the Laramie. The RB1 was about $1500 and they gave me a $450 credit for the factory radio. Although I ended up canceling my order (truck was over 3 months past the due date) the rep said he confirmed the install work with someone in Florida who had done it at another dealer. Other navigations systems (aftermarket) are about the same money. I decided I wanted a factory installed unit that worked with the steering wheel controls. Good luck.
