This is a Mopar Roof Grab Handle, fits my 2001 but should fit all of this body style. I have a QC, dunno about standard cabs. Fits passenger and driver side. Pull a section of the door seal down and you will see the mounts on the roof under the headliner. Trim the headliner so that the mounts for the grab handle bottom out against the roof. $27 from my dealer. P/N 5DZ39SL2

Thanks for the info man....

I've been kicking around the idea of adding one on the passenger's side for the height-impaired that try to climb up in my truck :) but I'm still agonizing about how many stains the headliner'll get from dirty hands. Who was the fool at Chrysler that decided that all trucks regardless of interior color should have a white headliner? If I wanted white inside my truck I would have ordered it! (Yes I know you can't get white-just ranting... . ) Probably'll do it though-I wonder how well Scotchguard works on the headliner... ?

So you're saying the mounts are already there behind the headliner? Amazing-the bean counters haven't removed them yet!

After reading these post, I went out and looked at the truck. My truck is a 2001. It already has a grab handle on the headliner on the passengers side, also headline isn't white, it's grey. But I would like one on the drivers side for my 5' wife.

Mine came with one on the pillar and on the roof for the passengers side. So are we saying that there is a place on the drivers side for one on the pillar and roof also?? Inquiring mind want to know. :p

I like that idea. I have a slight bit of problem sliding my big hind end into the seat and this will help immensely.

^5 to ya TD.

Jason,

Don't let your dirty hands stop you. Just get a clean pair of cheap white cotton gloves to put on when you handle the headliner. Take them off when you handle the hardware and tools, put them back on to re-install the headliner. Any dirt will stay inside the gloves, none of your H-liner. An extra pair of hands may not be a necessity but would be helpful. ;)

Mine did not have either handle. $19 each, 5 minutes with a xacto--viola. There are factory mounts on both sides. Piece of cake. IMHO--limit the beers prior, you don't want the holes TOO big.

he wasnt looking at the A-pillar and niether am I... .

mine came with two handles from the factory. one on the A-pillar and one on the roof.

my truck was a mexico built if that matters. :D

(I hear they are built better)

Thanks for the install tips!

I'm not that worried about staining the headliner while I'm installing-it's the grubby folk who regularly inhabit the passenger seat of my truck that worry me :D . All kidding aside I guess it's just an issue I'm gonna have to work through-I bought this truck as a work truck but never having owned a new vehicle before I get super-sensitive about cosmetic stuff. Damn near cried the first rock chip I got in the windshield-we won't talk about getting caught in a hailstorm.....

I think the benefits of the handle outweigh the possibility of the headliner getting stained anyways-and I'm pretty sure Scotchguard would go a long ways towards protecting it anyway.

Thanks again all

Jason

Those darn handles

It seems the 2001 models, regardless of build location, have the A-pillar AND roof handles (on the passenger side). It would also seem that the DC bean counters have removed them from the 2001. 5 models, regardless of build location. Driver side never had either.

Due to the pending A-pillar gauge install, a handle won't make it on mine. However, thanks to this thread, I now know there is a mounting location for the driver side roof handle and there shall appear a new entrance aid!!

Best wishes,

David
