Valentine Poem for the Wife

I found one!

I know they're ugly as heck, but I drove the car, It was kinda fun to drive... really needs a new transmission, a 904 auto that's mushy and it shudders... a 318 4BBL that probably needs the top end rebuilt, sounds like it has a sticky valve... When I took it for a test drive and the TC quit hunting, this thing really got on it!
The body is really straight, the paint sucks, no rust car came from nevada... (cheap$)
I know it's no muscle car but what do you guys think... a good starter for a beginner?

YOu didn't say what year... I have an 84 Diplomat cop special in my back yard. It HAD a good transmission, but somewhere in my move, it got shoved out of the way and got left behind. Anyway, the power was never astounding, but the handling of this beast was terrific. .

I raced mine in SCCA competition, against things like Mustangs and Camaros. It did well... though just a bit too underpowered and tall geared to do well.

Mine has the oversize springs, swaybards front and rear, and had a non-lockup 999 transmission. It too had the ticking noise... which I found out shortly was a cam going flat.

I have the 318 completely rebuilt, with a 340 cam and 360 J heads but it has sat for 3 years now, never run.

After really thinking about it and consulting a few experts(thanks power wagon!)
I gave it another test drive, It felt really doggy after driving my truck over there(apples and oranges, I know)... the first test drive I got to the guys house via chrysler new yorker, the cop car seemed to contrast the new yorker's power well but nothing will make up for that feeling i get when i hit 4th in my truck.
I decided just to get my new injetors instead of this car, with as long as it is taking me to get the Ram where I wanna be, I figure something in not nearly the shape of my truck would be just too long a process for me right... thanx for the replies though.

No, it had a 999. That's a heavy duty version of the 904. Massively big transmission cooler from the factory, but a 999 just the same. Frankly, the 999 is one stout sucker... not as brutal as the 727, but its often used drag racing, because it has very low rotational inertia for an auto.

Good Choice. I was thinking about getting a small, cheap runabout to take my arse back and forth to work. You know, something that gets some obscene amount of miles to the gallon. Then I started thinking that if I just got all the things I wanted to get done to my truck, I should be ok. Plus if I get the other car, that is more insurance, more repair bills, more inspections... ferget it... new step bars, here I come...
