I wonder if there is enough head pressure to overcome the 5psi check when the tank is full?
Does it leak past even when the auxillary tank is at a lower level?

It does seem to still do it when the aux tank is at half, about 115 litres(one factory tank fill worth).

I have installed the RDS gravity system in my Ram Ecodiesel. I have a continue problem of the fuel not running in tank when I crank the vehicle. It seems to vapor lock or vacuum lock every time I crank the vehicle. I installed the RDS per instructions. It was the kit for this vehicle. Any ideas why?

Is your tank vented? By "crank the vehicle" do you mean starting it?

My RDS system works "too" well. Even with an 80 gpm pump in line, the tank will gravity feed when the pump is off!

BUT, surprisingly the back flow valve that came in the kit does it's job very well. I have an inline shut-off valve at the tank, before the pump also.

By cranking yes I mean starting the vehicle. The RDS TANK is vented. I can turn the vehicle off and open the vehicle gas fill vent and it will start gravity flow again. When I start the vehicle it will stop the flow.

Wow, there must be some heavy return line pressure in the ECO fuel system pressurizing the main tank enough to impede gravity flow.

You might have to install an inline supply pump.

I think the problem is solved. The guy I had put the tee in the filler line actually put one off the clamps around the small vent line on top of the filler tube too. When he clamped it down it cut that vent off. I found it today, unclaimed the vent tube and straighten it up some. It seems to be work now.

I used the RDS kit also, feeds through a filter and a switched solenoid thats cxan only be powered when truck is running or accessory in on

RDS Kit on 2015 3500 SRW ?

I had a shop install a 90 Gallon RDS tank and Gravity Kit Friday and I put about 45 Gallons of fuel in it with about 10 Gallons left in the factory tank. By morning time I had a puddle under the truck. Is anyone else having this problem with this kit or just me?

......

That is one of the shortfalls of a gravity system with no shutooff valve, when you leave the truck you don't know where the diesel will be when you come back. I had a leak on the tank I installed in the 99 I had the first time I transferred from the auxiliery tank to the main tank. It ended up being leaking at the fuel module on top of the tank, I tightened the big plastic nut and never had another problem. bg

Thanks for the response, Smith,

The company who installed my tank stated that they had experience installing these tanks with the kit's so i'm trying to confirm that there is something wrong with the installation or the kit before I start getting ugly.

I guess my question is whether or not I have a problem or if this setup (with kit) overflows if the valve is left open? I had hoped that I could just fill both tanks and not worry especially with the flow rate between the 2 tanks being low enough to take hours to go from half empty to full on the factory tank if I top off the Aux tank.

Thanks

Went back and re-read your post, missed the 2015 at the top. On the 99 and the 06 which I have now the tank is sealed and has inlet vents to allow air to enter as fuel is removed. I am not familiar with the new trucks. Can you tell where the leak is coming from? If you can roll under the left rear side of truck you should be able to see the filler nozzle and vent which is where they would tie I believe. bg

So.....I took another look and it looks like it is coming from one of the rubber hoses they use to fit the T-junction. I will open the valve tomorrow and let it top the tank back up and confirm.

Thanks for making me take a closer (Smith).

Here's an update, it turns out that the shop who installed the tank received the wrong kit and they tried to make it work. The have ordered the right kit.
