Interesting..........

What amazes me is those stupid fools voted him back in after the first round! That man(I use that term loosely)will lie, cheat, deceive, and make promises to those dumb enough to believe him. - catoiler

Exactly what I thought when Clinton was re-elected.

I hope the recall doesn't happen, sets a bad precident. It would be ok if the politician broke the law but not just for making the wrong decisions. If bad decisions were the criteria Bush should be recalled also.

How about flat out lying about the states debt, during the elections. Then after elected... oh yes sorry citizens but I am now going to have to tax the heck out of you because we are actually 25 billion dollars more in debt than what I said when I was running for office!

The California recall was grass roots democracy at it's best. The ability to recall a governor is part of the California constitution. It makes sense, if a lying cheat is in office there should be a way to get him out. You shouldn't just be stuck with the guy for 4 yrs.

The same ballot devices that got Davis elected aren't good enough to take him out of office! What a joke!

The 9th circuit court of appeals in SF is the most liberal group of judges in the country... . yes it is the same 9th circuit court which took away the pledge of alligence in schools!

Let's hope the Supremes over turn this nonsense.

SSSHHEEEESSSS!!!

I would need to write a book to try to answer the non-sense replies posted here the past day or so.

We start off with an accusation of BUSH lying about why/how we came to go into Iraq, and get a post about the ADMINISTRATION's comments on the air around the world trade center-----like BUSH personally gets involved in all the details of the executive branch of gov't. We were talking about Iraq, and about BUSH --- not some bureacrats comments on the WTC.

On the world trade center disaster

Dick Morris the other day told of an incident in 1999 where the gov't of Suddan contacted the Clinton White House saying they had Bin Laden and over 100 of his leadership and family in an air liner sitting at a Suddanese airport and what would Clinton like to do about them??

(this was after ben laddn had been credited with several attacks on us--marine barracks, embassies, USS Cole, etc.

and after clinton had repeatedly said we were going to find and punish those responsible)

The response sent back to the Suddanes? "let them go"

The fear at clintons white house apparently was that to grab the whole ben ladden operation would lose a few minority vots.

Do priorities change?

Yup, they do. At one point ben laden was a prime interest, does lowering that level of interest in favor of a different prime interest equal lying???

Nope, might indicate a change of mind, but lying has to do with intentional mistatement of fact(s)-----not a change of interest or emphasis. That change might be a error, but not a lie

But heck no one on here wants to read my "book", so I will shut up with one more comment in response to illflems explaination of us "old gezzers" who can't face the end the world as we know it.

I can list you a number of conservative leaders who I can not abide... . guys like Nixon, for an example. Even though I was a staunch conservative even then, I could not vote for him, nor could I bring myself to vote for a certain war hero vet. senator from Az----well, unless the opposition was the likes of hilliary or algore. :{

To repeat;;;; absolute zero actual evidence that BUSH lied to us one bit on Iraq.

To repeat;; Had clinton accepted the offer of the Suddan to hand us not only bin laden, but over a hundred of his top people, there would have been NO 911.

(as I re-read my post, I see that I may be a poor debater, but I am for sure a rotten typist--sorry about the typos, too much trouble to do it over,,sorry)

The thought that Bush lied about WMD makes no sense at all. To say that he lied would be to admit that Bush knew that there were no WMD (which we still don't know). If Bush did know that there were no WMD, why in the world would he campaign a war based on a goal that he knew he would fail at. IMHO, the only fault that I might be able to find with the decision to go into Iraq, would be lack of accurate intelegence gathering about the situation. Personally, I think the WMD all went to Syira (sp) or Iran, but that doesn't even matter. Saddam needed to get his ass kicked out of Iraq.

I for one value the opinion of all you old farts, illflem included.

However, the only good thing I can say about ANY branch of our government is that it is better than anarchy.

That ain't saying much.

The latest news is that the 9th circuit court of appeals is forming an 11 man review commitee to hear arguments why the recall vote should proceed. Arguments will be turned in tommorow by 2:00 pm.

It now turns out the evidence that the ACLU used to appeal the recall, was based on statistics provided by the company which makes the new style voting machines! Can you say conflict of interest. Man does this stink!

Anarchy?

If only my old high school civics/govt teacher were reading this! I owe him an apology; Mr. Lewis, you were right! The time has come that I do give a s*&^ about the system & how it works. From what I can gather info wise for myself, Davis misrepresented the amounts of budget shortfall to the electorate. After he won, the real amounts came out. His plan to balance the books is through tripling the plate fees on vehicles. The public is hot about it & the recall is a legitimate means to remove him. After the public got the recall in, Davis now plans to do the old end around by doing the drivers liscense deal to enable enough illegals to fraudently vote for him & against the recall. California does not allow voters to be challenged at the polls as to their legitimacy. Connect the dots & draw your own conclusions. :-{}

Baby Driver;

I sure agree with your view on government.

Churchill said it best in describing democratic government; (more or less correct)" its the worst form of government devised by man, save for all others... "

The best you can say for government is that it is a necessary evil, accordingly we should have the very LEAST of it possible. That is the single greatest difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives wish to limit government where ever possible (yea, I know they often fail and go astray, (Bush even makes my blood boil with the prescription drug thing), but still that is the basic idea), while the liberal view is that we need all sorts of governmental intervention, protection, regulation, etc.

I my view, we have way too much government at every level and in every area.

My dream would be for every legislature, local, state and federal to have to eliminate at least 50% of all laws--both in number and in length. (fat chance, they are all adding to the laws at an ever faster pace)

Way back in the early '80s, I was going to order a "lazy susan" type book shelf to put beside my desk so state statutes, etc would be right at hand. The company making it, provided the number of inches of shelf space needed for each states statutes, so you could know how much shelf space you would need. The number of inches of state statutes ranged from a low of 39 inches to over 400 inches. I would bet that the state with only 39 inches of statutes still had way more regulation than was needed.

OK libbers, take your shot at me, and I won't be able to respond---I will be out of town for a few days.

Right now I'm less concerned about the level of control of the federal gov't over me than I am about the level of control my HOA has over me. I'm sure it's the same people who want an HOA to tell you how to live your lives.

I agree with Klenger about HOA's. I believe a certain amount of govt is necessary. The Dems want more than I do, the GOP wants less. The problem with cutting a lot of govt and deregulating industries is that it often fails. Look at the airlines - before they were deregulated, there were a number of good airlines, with lots of passengers. Once deregulated, prices went down - then back up again, then up and down. Airlines are going bankrupt because they couldn't adjust to the unregulated environment. And Enron shows what industry does without enough regulation - they try to rob people blind. Every day it seems more brokers in various firms get indicted for various crimes. Arthur Anderson - a self-regulating audit firm - went completely belly up after faking various audits. It's things like that which cause the people to demand more regulations - and more govt. to administer them.

The election is back on! An 11 Judge panel, of the 9th district court, has ruled the Oct. election should remain in effect.

Sacramento County Judge Loren McMaster ruled that

Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, must return to Indian tribes large

donations that skirted state campaign laws.

Bustamante must return $3. 8 million that were deposited in his

old campaign accounts in an illegal attempt to funnel the money

to his “NO on RECALL” and “NO on 54” television ad campaign

Bye Bye Davis. This lying pig should go. The ACLU should be gotten rid of also. Muscle man for gov, HELL NO. Bustmoney, NO.

McClintock is the hope of California.

Davis you ain`t Slick Willie! But I see you are getting advice from the Slick One. And All Gone came to California to try and boost you in the polls. I also read where Grayout Davis last week said I want the election to go on, this is after the 9th circus said the recall was off. Drivers lic for illegal (illegal border crossers)aliens, the people of the state of California have a privilage to drive on the roads(that we pay for) but the illegal (illegal border crossers) aliens have the right to drive in the state. There is something very wrong here, it is the Democratic party. The fault does not all rest on the shoulders of the Dem`s. The Republicans are showing they are "SPINELESS" and act as if they the "Republicans" are afraid of the Dem`s. Grayout also is giving the illegal(illegal border crossers) aliens free tuition to stste college. If my kids go to college in California I have to pay more tuition for my kids because my kids are United States citizens. Someting is wrong. Crooks, cheats, liars and thieves. The Grayout Davis gang.

JSmith, I agree with most of what you say, I also like McClintock. In fact we grew up in the same town and went to the same H. S. , I like his ideas, but I will vote for Arnold, just because McClintock doesn't have a chance in Haites of being elected. McClintock should drop out, other wise we will end up with Bustamonte or Davis.

I fear Elite is right; even though McClintock is the better candidate, Arnold has too much name familiarity and will have a better chance of beating Bustamonte. McClintock and Arnold will likely split the vote on the republican/conservative side and give the job to Bustamonte.

We have had this happen in Oregon twice in recent history; a "standard" republican candidate for governor loses to a democrate because there is a far right candidate who gets only about 10% of the vote, but thats more than enough to give the edge to the democrate.

Bustamecha group said they already spent the money from the Indians and will not be giving it back as the Judge ordered.

Let's see the democrats voted in the new campaign funding laws and found away around them... ... . ummmm. When caught oh the money was spent.

The court system certainly must operate differently in California than in Texas. If he told the judge that he wasn't going to obey a court order here in Texas, his happy self would be under the jail so fast his head would spin!

Guess it's closer to Alabama - after Justice Roy told the Federal Court to jump in a lake, he should've gone to jail right then and there.
