Hi guys:

I got under the ole Dodge to grease her up tonight and noticed that the zerk fitting on the front end, directly below the axle u-joint was broken off. Like for kingpin or something? There is one on the top also.

Anyway, I have a new grease fitting but can't get the part of the old one out. It looks that maybe that assembly can come apart, looks like a large nut or four little bolts. What should I do on this very little problem (worry or not worry) ?:)

Thanks,

John

Hi John usally you can take an easy out and tap it in the broken grease fitting. and unscrew it sometimes you can use a small philps screw driver if you don't have an easy out. Generally they come out real easy but you don't want to let that go with out grease hope this helps

Zerk Fitting

John,

It shouldn't be too hard to extract the broken zerk fitting. My only addition to Darrin's advice is to clean everything up with carb cleaner. Then heat just the broken fitting up with a torch until it just starts to turn red, then use the E-Z out to turn it out. Just a little well placed heat will really help you. I have seen and had E-Z outs break off before and they are harder than a banker's heart. You have to torch them out and blow them out with an air gun. Anyway, good luck.
