Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Grease in my fuel filter?

I changed my wifes 12V fuel filter @ 10k miles. Totally black with a blob of what looked like grease in the bottom of the housing. Is this the dreaded alge? Or what?



I added 2oz of Racor Diesel Biocide just to be safe.

Sounds like the Algea problem to me.

I had an old bread truck (4BT cummins ) infected a few years ago.

It took several treatments to get it cleaned up.
