I finally got around to installing my grease zerks. Lowers were no problem, however I could not figure out a site to install zerks for the uppers that I was comfortable with. Could someone hold my hand here and tell me one more time where the zerks should be drilled in for the upper ball joints? Thanks all.

Rather than installing the zerks I used a needle point grease gun end and a basket ball needle inflator and injected grease thru the boot, uppers and lowers I then put a dab silicon sealer on the boot. I doubt I'll ever have to grease it again. Just a suggestion.

right in the center of to top. You need to grease the top of the ball joint to force grease into the ball joint and flush the old grease and metal bits out. Injecting grease in the boot does not force grease into the ball joint. The rubber boot is only there to keep water and dirt out of the ball joint.
Hope this helps.
My 2k 4x4 has zerks in the upper ball joints, and one on the center link. Gee; 3 zerks could DC spare them.

You need two more zerks to lube the ones DC forgot. I emailed Steve instuctions, perhaps he would post them if it works on a newer rig.

when the weather warms up I will be doing my tie rods, lower ball joints and any thing else. ie: steering shaft slip joint yada yada

Thanks Bill for the E-mail. This is going to make me look pretty stupid but here goes. #ad
When I was reading the post about greasing the "ball joints" I kept thinking the joints that hold the spindle to the axle and provide a pivot point for steering. #ad
I now think that everyone is talking about the steering linkage outboard "ball joints/tie rod ends". Sorry about my dumb attack. However, I now have a grease zerk in the lower pivot point for the front spindle joint on eack side. It only took about 3 pumps of grease on each side to swell the rubber seal. 35,400 miles on the truck. Thanks all.
