I have looked and looked and have seen a picture or two but still can't find the fish eye in order to grease the from u joints. I have a grease gun here I'm waiting to put to use.

Any suggestions?

it is there... you just have to really look for it. Look at these 2 threads for more info:

One of thses threads has photos. I lay under thr drivers side with one front tire off the ground with the xfer case in neutral and rotate the tire with my foot. It is tough to see, but it is there.

I found this picture in an old post and comparing it to what I have torn apart right now I wish I had one of those newer shafts. Does anyone know if the new ones would fit onto a '97 reg. cab?

I included pics of mine dismanteled as I have it torn apart to replace the U-joints in my cv joint. The end on the shaft only has a little stub on it, the end that bolts onto the transfer case has a ball with needle like a u-joint cup. I filled it with greese to keep from loosing anymore needles, one feel out and I had a heck of a time getting it back into place. I am guessing that is the area you are greasing from that zerk. Keep in mind my truck has 180K on it and I have put over 140K on it and this is the first time I have torn this joint apart and not for those needles, one of the u-joint bearings was bone dry.

I know it is long but hopefully this will help you guys. Let me know if you want any other pics, it will be a few weeks before I get it put back together.

on your 05, is there a sticker on the radiator? if there is you got one. if not you don't.

I do not think that there is any correlation to having a radiator and a grease fitting. :-laf:-laf

Seriously- I do have the sticker on mine, but whether there is or is not a sticker... check anyway (the sticker for some reason could hav ebeen removed.

My 05 has them, and I've not looked to see about a sticker. Damn hard to find the "fisheye" but you just have to have patience and don't move the truck much at all to get it where it needs to be. PITA.
