Issue 50, page 41 of the latest TDR outlines the procedure for greasing the front drive shaft/U joint on the 9. 25 AAM.

Correct me if I am wrong but, isn't where the picture shows the grease going in only grease the pinion yoke and not the U joint?.

Check it out.

Mac

I took that picture in the mag.

It greases the ball and socket part of the dual cardan joint. The u-joints are still non-greasable. It is a great thing they added it IMHO. I have had that area fail on other shafts because of wear adn the greasable center helps that out alot.

I greased mine at the first oil change. When I first got the truck and saw the underhood sticker telling you to grease the driveshaft, I crawled underneath and searched for about 30 minutes without finding the little grease hole. I was looking for a zerk fitting. After I saw the TDR picture I found it right away.

My 5 @#$% dealer keeps "forgeting" to grease it...

I'm sure they forget a lot of other things too.

It takes about 10 minutes to grab the grease gun and crawl under the truck and grease it...

Easy for you to say... I don't have any pavement at my house... and you have to have the drive shaft in just the right spot to get to the little eyelet.

Na... I am taking it back to them and they will do it like they should have in the first place... that is where they can fix the rest of the stuff they messed up from the last visit.

It is great if you live someplace warm enough to crawl under the truck to do the greasing. Right now I gotta wait a bit till it gets above 10F.

I didn't see the pic. Can it be posted on here for those of us that still don't know what you are talking about?

Do a search for posts started by my username and it will come up on the 1st page.

I just greased the dual cardan joint on my truck today. I got the grease gun, needle attachment and high quality grease (part #985) from NAPA. When doing this, only give the fitting a half stroke on the grease gun. Don't over-do it or you'll foul-up the seals.
