I saw this last week while browsing the websites.

We decided to stop in a take a look as we passed through Gainesville this weekend. After a test drive we sat down with the salesman to strike up a deal. I was surprised to learn that they didn't discount the truck at all. They raised the price $2700. Then they played the numbers game, the high pressure tactic, then the guilt trip, then the "today only deal" gimmick. By that time I felt so guilty that I couldn't offer him $48,000, we had to leave in tears and feeling not worthy of their valuable time and efforts. I too have a family to feed and I only have about $28k to offer for a truck of this nature. It only has 265 miles on it from countless test drives and no takers I presume. Maybe someone in our humble TDR membership can help these wonderful people out and offer them $10 or $15k more than it's worth.

On the contrary, Autoway Dodge in Clearwater where I've bought four Dodge trucks has always been a pleasure to do business with. I'm not affiliated with Autoway in any way. Just a happy repeat customer.

Go to the link, click on new inventory, 2002, 3500, and bright white. It's a 2002 3500.

You shoulda been able to come real close to your price on an '02 at this point in time - I paid $31,000 for my pretty well loaded ETH/DEE 6 months or so ago - not especially an outstanding deal, but it listed well over $36,000... .

I see they still have it...

I bought an 02 2 weeks ago.

They sold it to me at "dealer cost" (Which was the same number you can see on sites like www.kbb.com) Then the factory was giving the dealer a $2500 "incentive" on the price, so I got the truck for $2500 under factory invoice.

then there was another $1000. 00 rebate because I had leased my truck, and was leasing the new truck. (I had bought out my lease on the old truck, but I had the paper work to show it was leased)

All said and done, I got it for $3500 under factory invoice.

I wrote them a check for $750. 00, the new lease is $50. 00 a month cheeper then the old truck payments, so I drove in with a 98 2500 with 94K miles on it, and left in a 2002 3500 with more options, and $50. 00 extra in my pocket every month.

Mine listed for $36K and I paid $28. 5K the end of Oct. The nice part is it was the exact truck I had been looking for for 3 years :D

My dad always told me if I could get 15% of the MSRP thats a pretty good deal. I got about 20% on my 2001. I'll bet your is almost 25%-30%, one of the best I've ever heard, $3,500 under invoice great job.

Towpro, Did you say lease??? Scary Scary Scary. Is there a balloon payment after 3-4 years?? Is there a milage limit?? What do you think you will have in equity after your lease is up? Sometimes those great deals on leases are just a slick way of taking advantage of those who just want a lower payment. You usually pay for it in the end, with a lease. Sit down and do some number crunching. See how much that truck is worth after the lease is up, and how much you will owe.

The only way I would lease is if the truck was strictly for business, and could write off a large amount for taxes.

Yes I lease them. 5 years with one truck is long enough for me.

I don't put many miles on them the last couple years because I also have a 98 VW Jetta TDI (diesel) I drive to work every day (its paid for). the truck is for fun, camping, hauling around the dirt bikes, etc.

the 98 was a lease, but I bought it out when I hit 70K miles (3. 5 years into a 5 year lease) At that time I was driving the truck to get to work (100 mile RT per day) plus for camper hauling, etc.

I figure I am always going to have payments, this way as long as I keep the Jetta running I can afford a nice truck.

If I like this one, I can buy it for 14K at the end of the lease. But its an Auto which I don't except to last much longer then the 60K I will put on it in 5 years.
