GFrance,

The National show is held in a different location every year, this year it happened to be at the California Speedway in Fontana. There are chapters all over the country and one of them could be associated with the museum your thinking of in Oregon.

Here's a link if you want to see were it will be next year.

Thanks for the info grey wolf. Love those old trucks, I've been driving truck for 30yrs. My boss has a 1937 K-7 International that he's restoring right now. It was his dads first fuel delivery tank wagon when he started in the oil buisness.

It would be nice to see a picture of the old K7. If he doen't belong to the AHTS maybe he should, maybe you could get him to take you to the next show ;)

Yeah, what did he say in that movie, something like... "Must be some kinda souped up diesel in that thing... " or something to that effect. It is a classic. Kinda reminds me of "The Car".

Perhaps the greatest line in movie history.

"He's got some, some, some souped up diesel. My, my car's just not that powerful... "

I had to go out and buy it, I heard that line and had to rewind it over a few times. The part where you see him driving through the smoke and he starts coughing reminded me of the "Great Smoke Stories" thread :-laf .

The movie "Duel" was on yesterday at noon on the SciFi channel. Did anyone watch it? I totally spaced on this, because I was changing out my lift pump. Thanks again for the help Matt.

THat is a great movie---

BUT WEaver was a DORK - it had to be that way for the movie - BUT - he had more than enough chances to get away... ...

It was on the Turner Classic Movie channel Saturday as well. It had been a long time since I'd seen it, so watching it was fun. The recent movie Joyride ripped off the Duel plot big time.

Watching Duel also serves as a reminder to not put off doing routine maintenance (radiator hose)! :)

Go to http://www.tenfourmagazine.com/ Click on the May 2004 cover story and it tells all about the truck and how it's new owner found it and fixed her up. Very interesting reading. Tells all about it's motor and that this was the 2nd back-up truck as the first one was destroyed in the movie.

You're welcome, Paul... anytime.

I watched Duel on DVD last night - thanks Paul! The movie itself was pretty good - not bad for Spielberg's directorial debut...

According to the 'extras' on the DVD... It was shot over the course of 13 or so days - a very ambitious schedule for any movie... even more ambitious for one that was completely shot on location.

What exactly is a button? I was talkin to some guy the other day at a truckstop that had a cummins (12V~97), and he also drove trucks for a livin. He wanted to know why I put a fuel plate in mine, all he ever does to diesels is put in a "button" and he said you can have all the power you want. I just figured he meant deliverey valves or something on his 12V, or he really didnt know what he was talking about and wanted to impress me with wisdom and knowledge of cummins (he said he has "more power than you can shake a stick at" in his cummins, with only a "button") .

Maybe he meant the button going to the giggle bottle :-laf

Ahh, the classics!!!

Someone needs to make a sequel to that with a dually dodge w/ reunel bumper chasing down some dumb cel phone toting soccer mom in a Ford Explorer.

Opening scene: LA freeway, dodge truck pulling a gooseneck loaded to the gills. Soccer mom cuts three lanes to dive for the offramp. Dodge has to stand on the brakes and nearly jackknife to keep from squashing her into the barrier. (Hmm, wait a minute, that happened to me, oops. I didn't chase her down though)

Too bad road rage isn't filmed more often, might wake up a few idiot commuters and inflict some fear of consequences when making sudden lane changes and tailgating.

How about Reese Witherspoon and Bruce Willis as the main characters?

I bought the new DVD a few days ago,got it last night--AWSOME,they did a great job with surround sound and added some new sounds. . GREAT :D

And people wonder why the average life expectancy of a truck driver is only 56 years old it's because of the idiots we have to deal with on the road every day #@$%!

I could have sworn it was due to Flying J's greasy spoon buffet dinners? :(

DK, you spelled the Ford's name wrong. It's Exploder :D

The "manners editor" on this site won't allow me to spell it how I refer to them usually.

By the way, Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy the weekend.
