Off Roading Greg Boardman of DRC passes . . . .

Man what a loss, R. I. P. Greg. I wish he could have made it up here to AK to go fishing like he wanted. He and I talked about doing it this summer, but he was too busy with the business. That was Greg though putting his customers first.



I will blow some smoke and thrash on the Race system for ya Greg..... Godspeed

Today is a Sad day for me.

The first time I meet Greg is when he installed his DRC race system on my truck. From then on he would alway take the time to answer any question I would have and from time to time just BS. When I deployed to Iraq Greg would send me e-mail every couple weeks to check on me and keep me connected to the off-road way of life that I love. I will miss talking to Greg, I wish his family and friends my best and will keep you in my prayers. Greg may the Lord give you thousands of miles of dirt to make first dust.

I have spent the last two days in shocked silence and disbelief, hoping this was just someone's bad idea of a joke. Greg was always there when I had a question, or just wanted to BS a bit. I even left a voicemail a day or so before this asking about the "swag" he was going to send for my get together and for Fall Brawl. Greg was a good person, and sure as heck deserves our honor and respect for the work he did in the CTD, and TDR community. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and brethren that even though they never met him in person, he earned their love and respect. To his friends, I ask nothing more then fond remembrance. To his family I wish nothing less then the best of wishes. Should they ever need our help and support, they need but ask. God rest your soul Greg. You shall surely be missed, by one and all.

To say I am very sad tonight is not right, I am sick to my stomach, I met Greg on several occasions and last had a long talk with him at May Madness. I will miss his laugh and strong will and dedication to out trucks. I have sent a donation to his family and want to wish Greg Gods Speed my friend.

The many conversations we had was always an uplift in my day. He was certainly full of character and I know he enjoyed life with his truck and family. My eyes are welled and the hair is standing up on my arms. When I go home tonight I will hug my wife and children and bless each day that I am here.

I hate news like this-- Such a tragic loss.

I never met Greg in person, but somehow through his posts, pictures, and his friends, I get a feel for who he was. I'm guessing his passion drove him to spend as much (if not more) time just thinking about how to make these trucks better, than some guys spend driving them. You can't help but admire the guy for that kind of passion and creativity. His enthusiasm and posts will be missed.

I'd be willing to bet he'll be there at the big Baja race-- Just not in the driver's seat.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

This is being posted on behalf of John P. Laurain, a good friend of Greg's:



I know nothing about trucks or Greg's company Desert Racing Concepts. I have known Greg since high shcool in 1982. Greg was always a person who took life, and the things he did to the extreme. Seeing the photos of his truck on various websites I am not surprised at all that he would build "extreme" trucks, pushing the limits of desert racing. When I read his website where he stated "if I can't break it, it must be good," that sums Greg up for me. While I don't have a truck to "burp black smoke," in Greg's memory I will opppose the enviromentalist whackos who want to stop all you racers from riding in the desert, as it may hurt the desert sand flea.



On a personal note, in 1991 Greg helped me get clean. I hadn't seen him in a few years, and when I called him he met me at a coffee shop, bought me 4 shots of espresso, took me to a 12-step meeting, and told me I didn't have to use drugs again, just for today. He encouraged me to pray to God and call him when I felt like using. Greg was there for me when I needed help, he shared his experiences and difficulties with me, and was someone I could call at 2:00 in the morning when I felt like getting loaded. Since 1991, thanks to God, the program, and people like Greg, I have been able to stay clean ever since. My life wouldn't be as blessed as it is today without Greg's help in starting me on the path to recovery. In addition to the racing community, many others will miss Greg as well.



My thanks to Greg, his wife, parents, and sister, for his life. Your are in my prayers.

I just heard about Gregs death. I was stunned to hear that.

My girlfriend and I went (on a 15 states/ 8800 miles trip) from GA, to CO, to CA... and visited him at Twentynine Palms, Ca. Not only did he help me over the phone when I installed my Kore suspension, he took the time out when I went by unanounced in Twentynine Palms, Ca and helped me install my limit straps. Gave my many tips and hints of how and what to do with the Kore setup.

He was a down to earth awsome guy!
