Wow my heart goes out to his family and close friends. I just cant believe it.

Not to take anything away from this but this hits very close to home in that the same exact thing happened to myself last year. It scare's me more now then when it happened. People always told me im lucky to be alive and right now as I type this I feel sad that we lost a fellow member and this could of been me last lear. I'm not doing good with words right now... . but wow this just hit me hard. I dont know the details about this accident but I guessing its very similar to mine last Thanksgiving. Most of your probably remember me and my story and pictures when I too went head on. I pray nobody else was injured or killed.

I hope and pray that his loved ones can stay strong and hold it together for the days to follow this.

This is very upsetting as to why someone like me lives but Greg had to die... ... :(

Thats all I can say right now... ... :(

RIP Greg and my prayers go out to your family and loved ones

I am deeply saddened to hear of Greg's passing. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but he was always so positive and helpful on the phone. I enjoyed reading his posts.

My heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to your family, Greg.

wow... this is are bad, bad news, the sadness goes to the south cone also. I have talk to Greg by phone a few times and for sure it was a great man. What a loss... my condolences to his family.

Thank you all for your kinds words, prayers, and concern for our family. This is a devastating loss to us and to be able to come and see how well he was respected is of great comfort. He lived life to the fullest and had a great time doing it. He died doing what he loved, though it was way to soon. And to quote his wife "we weren't done with him yet"

Rest in Peace Big Brother!

Thank you,

Lisa Thompson

Just want to add my condolences to Greg's family & friends. . So sorry for your loss.

This is why doing what we like to do is so important and it sounds like Greg was, and still is doing it. We all have a clock. .

a great loss

We at J&H Performance would like to extend our heartfelt condolence to Greg's Family for their loss. A highlight for me (Harvey) was a ride with Greg at May madness at 100 mph down the middle of the desert. We have done business with Greg for a long time and are going to greatly miss him.

May God bless and comfort his family in their time of need.

Life's daily routine, coupled with some major problems which limited my computer time, had me miss this thread. I was off to work the other day and received a call from a TDR friend informing me of what had happened to Greg and was shocked. It just goes to show how unpredictable our lives are and how quickly they can be taken away.

While words can not bring back Mr. Boardman to his family and friends, one can only hope that our words here help to fill the emptiness in their heavy hearts.

My condolences go to the family and RIP Greg as you will be missed by many ... ... ... Andy

I am reminded of the Vince Gill song, "Go Rest High on the Mountain" all I can think of is Greg racing up one side of that mountain and tearing back down the other side with a big cloud of dust and black smoke behind. RIP Greg Boardman

Like others have said, I never met him, but talked on the phone with him quite a bit. He was always helpful and no matter how busy he was, he always took the time to help out as much as possible. He told me the story of how he took some friends out in his truck and had them screaming like little girls as he blasted off into the desert in Big Red. I'll always picture him doing that.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Boardman family.

My most sincere condolences go out to Greg's family and friends. I never had the chance to meet him, but certainly enjoyed reading about his off-road adventures.

As mentioned earlier in this thread - in his memory, I will gladly send out a soot salute with each of the diesel powered goodies in our stable.

We just got back in town from a race and are reading this. To say we are stunned is an understatement . We just got through working with him on his magazine cover truck. I dont think there are any words that can express our deepest sorrow for his family and friends. On behalf of Bill and Shanti and our DTT family we want to let them know our prayers and thoughts are with them .

Greg Boardman was a supreme individual who will be missed. He was gnarly, and at the same time compassionate. He was the epitomy of rough on the outside and tender within. The kind of guy you would want to have on your side in a tough part of town, yet the first friend you would introduce to your fragile, old-fashioned grandmother. I spent some great times with the guy, and it is still impossible for me to comprehend that there will be no more. His exit from our world as we know it, was far too soon. The guy had an impact on everyone that met him, one that will never be forgotten by any of us.

One thing he did leave behind was his wonderful wife Rebecca. It's hard to believe Greg had the luck to find a partner in life that could match his wit, his love of life, friendliness, and incredibly energetic pace. She was the most important part of Greg's life. I have had the oppurtunity to spend some time with her recently, and she is aware, and very appreciative of all of the support, that has been displayed here on the TDR. These are incredibly hard times for the friends and family of the Boardmans, but good people make it through the hardest of times. Everyone's support here, has definitely helped. With that being said, posts like JDerbedrossian's above, do not. This is not a time or place for negativity.

*The TDR admin has done the right thing here and eliminated JDerbedrossians senseless post. *

Once again, thank you everyone for your support.

Greg Boardman you will be missed amigo.

I never got the chance to personally meet Greg face to face, only interact through a number of emails. I had hoped to cross paths someday on one of his many desert adventures, perhaps sharing a cold one at a race somewhere in Baja. Most days I sat in my little windowless office and lived vicariously through his postings until I could occasionally get away.

But I could tell that he was a great guy, and I'm sure someone who I'd have been proud to know and call a friend. He went out of his way to help me acquire a part, at no cost, that he could have easily sold to me. Always helpful. A great source of info. He will truly be missed.

Eulogy for Greg Boardman

“The loss of one good man diminishes us all. ” This was my first thought when I heard Greg Boardman, my friend of 11 months, had lost his life in an automobile accident. Since we first met, I felt that I had known him my entire life. I will always wish I did know him my entire life. He was taken from us far too early.

I always worried the unthinkable might happen while he was tempting fate racing through the desert in a truck or on a dirt bike. We had several conversations about the risk. Our loss of Greg is a reminder that none of us live forever, as Greg would often remind me.

We all meet a few people in our lives that are larger than life. Greg was one of those. He inhaled life in deep breaths and viewed its magnificence with a child-like awe. Most people endure life and its challenges. Greg challenged life and reveled in its exhilaration. Greg was generous to a fault, and kind, in a rough hewn grizzly bear way. He saw the humor in every situation and made it apparent to us all.

Greg was the hub of a large circle of friends and kept in touch with every one of us. He made a constant effort to keep us in touch with each other too. He regarded all his customers as friends and treated them as such because Greg was the ultimate people person and knew no strangers. The members of the media that support and report on his off-road world will miss him too.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife and business partner, Rebecca Boardman.

Many, many people are diminished by his loss.

Gregory Smith

I just came across this post and while I never meet Greg face to face we conversed over the phone many times. He talked me through a DRC race install on my truck. Our community isn't very big and we have lost one of the good ones. My thoughts go out to his family.
