Walked by the truck today and the door lock solenoids were trying to energize by themselves.

I got the fob and hit the lock button and they automatically unlocked. They do it with the engine running or not.

Did a search and checked TSB 08-26-00.

Has anyone lately had this problem? How much is the Central Timer Module (if that turns out to be the problem) and is the CTM covered by the 36000 mi warranty?

I pulled the #13 fuse (i had to leave) and have not tried to run the truck. The search thread said engine wouldn't run with #13 out.

Any information is appreciated. Leaving on trip Sat. and have to fix.

Thanks

Tom

I had that problem... . driving down the road the door locks would just activate and de-activate.....

Dealer changed out the CTM (yes - Warranty)..... but that wasn't the problem... . they said it was the tab's on the switches in the door arm rest - the batch of switches that they were using (my truck was made in Mexico)... . didn't have the proper male-female connection properties... ... changed 'em out and have not been a problem since!

Update... . Well, I had #13 fuse out last night. Tried to run truck this morning without the fuse. Will start but quits after one second. Plugged the fuse in and cycled the key several times still doing it. Let truck set for about three hours and now it is acting normal.

Does anyone know if something like a high freq welder in the neighborhood might interfere with the system?

I am going to let it ride for now and see if it happens again.

Dave, how long did you have your truck before the problem showed up?

Thanks

Ditto on what Dave said above, cept mine was built in St. Louis.

I did this when it was only few months old and it was the door panels switch(s). The thing would act like someone in the immediate area had my other FOB and was playing games with me. I walk away from the truck and it would unlock (yes the keys were in the truck, and in the ignition at the time, not running tho) turn around to grab the door handle, and they would lock, did this for over an hour before "it " would let me get it.

Took it to the dealer, explained to them what was going on... ... ... . and while they stared at me like I had two heads, the truck just up and locked itself, and promptly unlocked, LOL, then they believed me.

I wish I had the entire first episode on video, it was a hoot for the first 1/2 hour, then it was ******* me off. :D

Rob, I guess it is funny now but at the time... well.

Mine won't actually lock. The solenoids are hit but not hard enough to lock. You can see the knob try to move. However, if I lock it with the fob or the door switch it will immediately unlock.

Well, I washed it this afternoon and still no problem (knocking on the wood here). Do you think one of the switches could have gotten moisture in it from cleaning... . windex, armourall etc? Or would that have even caused a problem?

Anyway, all is well right now so we'll see.

Thanks for all the input. If it happens again I'll let ya'll know

Tom

P. S. I'm glad it is OK now since I have 37k on it now.
