haveing some trouble when I start my truck when it's cold. the truck allways fires up but sputters and misses for awhile does not do it if the truck is plug in only if it sits all day at work. How do I check if the grids are working? could it be fuel?

thanks

Kris

Disconect the heater and check with ohm meter sould have low res. ,then use the volt meter to see if power makes it to the heaters, with these you could be 90% sure ,theres always a possibility that there is a short that makes it look like the heaters are ok. I'ld give you the res. reading if I had it.

Or, put a volt meter on the grid heater nuts. It should see 12 volts when you turn the key on if its cold. I soaked my IAT in ice water to make sure. If you have 12 volts and still no luck then you can disconect and check for continuity. I think its about 1 ohm or so.

if i put my test light on the nut on the grids I get power when the wait to start light comes on so i know there is power.

Its more likley pulling air.

When it gets cold the fuel is harder to get pulled thru the lines, espesially if the fuel modules o rings get cold and let air leak into the fuel. Its the reason Mopar updated the fuel module.

If I bump the starter but don't let the truck start the problem goes away when I do start it. so It is most likely the LP or an air leak right?

That confirms, its probably an air leak.

When you bump the starter the lift pump is priming the system and bleeding some of the air out. Thats why its easier to start. The updated lift pump Part # 05175538AA will eliminate air leaks and restrictions in the fuel module. By the way If its an air leak the colder it gets the worse it will get.

Im going to get a new lift pump and a big fuel line kit lets see if that fixes it

thanks guys
