2017 2500, now that the weather is warm, the grid heater "wait to start" comes on every morning on a cold start, even if it's 80 degrees. Dealer says it's out of the basic warranty, and it's not included in the powertrain warranty, so If it's just a sensor or something simple, I will fix that myself. Any ideas what to look for ?

What is the coolant temp when this happens?

The grid heater is used for emissions so it may well be normal. A failed sensor should set a CEL a the ECM will verify readings between multiple sensors on a cold start.

How long does it stay on for? Mine in a 2012 and still does it every morning as well. I never really think anything of it cause it doesn't seem to be effecting anything.

The light coming on for 2-3 seconds is normal. Just the system determining if it needs run the heater for a longer period.

I thought you could double pump the start switch to make the truck start up right away? ( the grids would probably be on anyways)
