I found this thread on grid heater "savers" started back in November 2001 that talked about disabling the grid heaters in a variety of ways. I would like to do something similar.

I've had to disconnect my grid heaters because the truck sometimes sits for a couple of weeks between operations and the batteries really don't like the heaters after they have sat awhile and trying to start. If I disconnect the heaters, I usually have enough juice to start, otherwise it's jump start time.

My question is "What sets the code and the Maintenance light? Disconnecting the leads to the heater, the relay, either or both? I would like to put in a switch that I could throw from inside the cab before I attempt to start it after it's been sitting awhile and I'm getting tired of looking at the engine check light. Any suggestions. Thanks.
