Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Grid/Intake heaters

When your truck says "Wait to Start" what is being heated? Also after it starts and the heaters are cycling what is it that is being heated???

1- Intake air for easier starting

So both are the same system? I had always thought they were different.

Same system, ECM looks at coolant temp, intake air temp, and engine RPM, for its logic to decide how it will cycle the grid heaters.

I have 2 LEDs that light up on my dash when the grid heaters come on, I'd say bout 50% of the time when the "wait to start" light comes on, the heaters are not on.

It is on all the time. Winter and summer.
