I saw this truck in a parking lot the other day and snapped a pic. It is the first time I have seen a set of lights mounted to the grill. They were mounted higher than I would have put them, but he had a plow mount so I assume they are so high to clear the plow. By the way, the lights were light force lights which are very light weight. I have a set just like them and I love em... .

That a pretty good idea IMO.

I been toying with the idea of cutting out some of the honeycomb and installing the lights in the grill, but I like how this guy mounted his. I might have to give this some more thought again.

Grill mounted driving lights

I hope he has a switch handy for those lights... . or the oncoming driver is wearing welding goggles. What is their power?..... I am in the market for a GOOD set of driving lights... something that can light up a deer or cow from a distance far enough to avoid them at speed... . How about PIAAs? They are pricey, but reputable... are their any less expensive that are as good? I figure an inside the bumper mount but that's negotiable..... I just want to see those @#$%^ critturs before I hit 'em... ... . my insurance company agrees. :D

Here is a link to the maker of those lights. . if you scroll down toward the bottom of the page you can see how far they shine... Mine are the middle set and will shine over 500 yards. The big ones go over a mile. They are adjustable too. . you turn the housing like you would a mag light from spot to really wide... nice lights.

Here is the American distributor...

And here is a list of the distributors in the USA.

Oh my gosh they look like a set of Hooters. :D BIG ONES

Any idea how they are mounted... . the lights I mean?

I bet they vibrate at speed even if they are light weight.

If you wanted a long range light couldn't you remove/replace the factory fogs with some quality driving lights? re: Hella/PIAA

I don't know if they vibe or not, I just saw the truck in a parking lot and took a pic. I will tell you for long range lighting there is not much better. The big 9 inchers shine over a mile in spot beam mode.

Replace the fog lights

I replaced the factory fogs with piaa 510 pencil beams and wired the relay the the factory fog swith. These are powerful lights and light the road for a really long ways. People around tend to flash there lights at me alot though. Probably doesn't help that I have 85 watt super whites in them:D I have about $900 into three sets of piaa lights and super white for the headlights so they are spendy. But every other brand of lights I have put on leaked water. :mad: Piaa makes a mounting kit to put the 510's in your factory location, unless you have the newer sport bumper like me. Then you need to fabricate your own bracket. :{

The Piaa 510's are the same size as the factory lights. You need to buy the Piaa mounting bracket and it is just a bolt on project. Or you can make your own brackets, whatever works. :)
