Are there any after market grill/ air conditoner condensor screens, that will keep the fins from getting damaged or full of bugs. Most big rigs have some sort of radiator screen , just wondering if anyone makes anything for these trucks.

Lund makes a screen front for the 3rd gen trucks, I have a set on mine, they protect the radiator from stones and bugs very well. I tested it to see if the truck ran hotter with it and it does not seem to make any difference, I have an oil temp gauge and it runs the same with them on or off. I have a picture in my reader gallery. They are made out of shiny black plastic.

Oh man I jsut made a totally kick but screen for mine that also has an aluminum piece that is atatched to the top of the intercooler and goes out over the condenser so when you lean on it you cannot dint or flatten fins. It is a two piece screeen and a piece of 27'' by 3" aluminum. It looks realy great. It uses 1/8 heavy guage screen and can be removed for cleaning. The screen {hardware cloth} is pretty hard to find but I ahve acess to a role of it. I am very sorry that I am practially computor illiterate and cannot post pics but if anyone lives in the colorado Springs area maybe they could help me get pics online. Carlin dodge was very impressed with it and wanted to know who made it. I am afraid they were gonna steal my idea. It is nice cause only covers the condenser and upper radiator and does not go out past the sides. ,

How does yours compare to the MPC grille guard that Geno's has? I have one ordered.

I always take some aluminmum screen door material and stretch over front of radiator(s) to keep bugs and rocks out. Costs a couple bucks for a roll big enough for 2 or 3 trucks.

I ahven't seen that one yet. Mine actually mounts to the condensor and then the second piece goes above and is formed behind the support and rests under the fan shroud. The aluminum piece holds the top of the condenser cover screen down and holds the bottom of the top piece and also. All in all it only cost me around $10 to make. My wife will be home from Iraq in a couple three weeks {YEH HAW!!!!!!} and she can help me with the pics. I used the large mounting bolts on the condensor hangers to mount the screen. You can remove one side bolts and then the other without it falling on ya.

For those on a budget and not wanting to affect the looks of your truck. take a roll of window screen and tie wrap to radiator. Its cheap, effective, and you can't see it with the hood down. Alaska tent and tarp makes a winter cover that does the same thing from under the hood, and they make a summer screen also. Great product. :D

Lund also makes a stainless steel for the grill and the bumper insert see my readers rig pics

Has anyone ordered the MPC Grill Guard from Geno's?

From the picture, it looks like it only covers the top and does not protect rhe front of the condenser from bugs and rocks.

Yes... The MPC from Genos only covers the top. I have one.

In addition to it, I bought one of those aluminum screendoor/stormdoor covers that prevents Cats, Dogs, and Kids from tearing up the screen. Got it at ACE Hardware. It was already painted black, and it is a perfect fit.

You really need something to protect that condenser.

RRoton,

Thanks for the response. Could you post a picture? I might steal your idea. That is one of the simplest solutions I've seen here. :)
