I'm all for that one too... . LOL

I just recieved my DSS yesterday, awesome customer service and a great price, can't beat that. Thanks Marv and Astar

Am I the only one lookin this over or what... . Im in the process of slowly bolting everything together (well not alot to put together but just tinkering in the garage... . ) I tried to put the bolts thru the bearing assembly to bold it to the bracket... . well the bolts are too big for the bearing assembly!! but not for the bracket. what gives?!?! I dont have calipers on hand so I cant give the exact dimension variables. Should I just tap it or put it on the brideport and drill it out to the right size?

nothing in the instructions or the TDR mag. write up.

Ian

I have all 6

2 larger - fit the holes in the bracket perfectly (where bearing attaches)

4 smaller that fit the bearing assembly yet leave a gap in the bearing attachment holes yet go thru the bearing

Is this just a mis package or what? or where the bracket holes drilled a size to large? if the bearing assembly is to be rigid then the holes would be too small creating a point where my assembly can move which would render the DSS useless

Ian

Wow, I just pull all of mine from the bag and have the same. 4 smaller bolts that fit the bearing housing and 2 larger that include nuts and do not fit. I agree this looks like a miss packaging.

Bill-

what are your thoughts about the bearing bolt hole dimensions being off? cus the bolts go thru the bracket and are drilled for that size bolt yet the bearing assembly is just too small? Im glad I wasnt in the process of installing it!

I just emailed Marv on the subject and told him my problem and Ill let everyone know how it comes out.

I spoke with Marv on the phone yesterday to order a brace for myself and I mentioned this to him. He told me that several months back there were a few of the bearing assemblies that had holes slightly too small but he didn't think it was an ongoing issue. The housing is cast iron and if you drill the holes out to 5/8" everything should fit as intended. He did say he was going to check the bearings a little more diligently and make sure the issue hasn't crept back in. He seems like a very nice guy, pleasant to deal with and ready to listen to and address any concerns. I wish more retailers acted like these smaller independant dealers, would make buying anything a much more enjoyable experience.

Thanks BadDNA I ended up drilling them out on the mill, now its just a matter of when to install it, maybe this weekend if its somewhat nice outside so im not covered in water from melting snow!

haha

thanks again guys!

Ian

I installed the bracket last night. Everything fit perfect. Drove it to work this morning and the front end seems more solid going over wash board roads and seems to have cured the sawing on the steering wheel while droving in ruts. Oo. What a great improvement to the truck.

Just finished mine, went in with no issues in regards to the Skyjacker 4. 5" lift, I too had to drill the holes in the bearing holder.

Thanks again,

BBD

Has anyone had a DSS on a 3rd gen for any length of time? I have a Warn front reciever hitch, will I have fit issues? I can't imagine it not helping the Death wobble with 35's, but would like to upgrade my stabilizer at some point with the Kore unit. Will I have any problems with that?

Thanks.

Help PLEASE,

I need a new stabilizer like yesterday ! I had one put on @ 35 K miles and now at 78K miles it back. It looks like the Kore is the most expensive but the best. I don't know which one I need though. Non of the charts show an application for my 03. Do they come with brackets ?? I would like to get SOMETHING on my truck befor I die.

DSS Steering Brace

I apprciate all the information on this site.

I wanted to let everyone know that I sent a check to Marv a couple of weeks ago and it was returned by USPS because of insufficient funds and because I did not spell out Sashatchuan.

Postage was $0. 60 in stead of $0. 37.

I guess I was just not up on what USPS charges.

Planning on installing bracket this afternoon. I was checking the the fit for the bolts on the bearing holder and tried to slide the new extended shaft nut thru bearing bore and it looks like I will have to drive the bearing on to the new nut.

The installation directions says it just slides on to it. Am I correct or is there something I'm missing?

Charlie

PS: Got it on. All it took was a little anti-seize.
