Well the wife just came back from the orthodontist and he mentioned $2800. 00 dental work. I guess I'll have to wait. Sorry!

Get a second opinion. My wife and I recently went to a dentist, and he told us, combined, we needed about $12000 worth of work. We went to a different dentist, and I needed nothing but a cleaning, and she had a couple of small cavities. Not saying you don't have a good dentist, but there are some scam artists out there. Sorry to hijack.

I'm in. Trying to decide if the dynaloc hubs are worth it. Isn't the only real difference the length they stick out?

My understanding is that the Dynalock hubs are much stronger and when they fail, they default to the locked position. I'm not really sure how they work, but for anyone who uses big tires/big power they would be a good option. I used to use 35 spline warn premiums on the D60 in the front of my old trail truck and I changed out a lot of hubs on the trail after they exploded. If I was still running that setup, the Dynalock hubs sound like they would be a good option.

Ya, its legit. He worked on her before, and he is good. Her front teeth separate sometimes so she had a bar attached behind them to hold them together after spending two years in braces. That bar broke three months ago and her front teeth separated again. Its back to braces again, but only a few have to be straitened out this time. So the $2800. 00 is actually cheap, she's going to have metal braces instead of the new clear plastic which is more money and longer on her teeth.

Reminder. As of right now, 4 kits have been ordered. Their are 5 more people that have not ordered yet and today is the deadline. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me (I will be away from email till tonight) or Dan at Dynatrac (Dan 714-596-4461)

Just got off the phone with Dan... He's very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to!

I ended up ordering the kit with the Dynaloc hubs and new u-joints as well...coming in 2 boxes totalling 100 lbs!

Thanks for putting this together...

Stupid question, are there applications for dually's?

If so, I am in

Bill Benson

Las Vegas, NV

Bill, just spoke to Dan, he has kits for duallys, but we have to get a new hub adapter for the kit to work. :{ Around an extra 350 he said from a place back east. I have to call them in the morning tomorrow and decide if I still want to do this right now or not. Was really hoping to get these now !!

Eric, Good plan to order the Dynaloc hubs, I see your truck has some horse power goodies as well as suspension upgrades... A little beef for the beef.

Mark, thanks for making the call!

I am doing a huge home project right now and didn't get to it yesterday...

Bummer, I was liking the $1750 price but had a feeling it was too good to be true :{

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks all for participating in the Group Buy... If you want to keep the Thread open, we can report on our installs. I personally will be reporting on my install and hopefully some mileage gains. Average fuel costs here on the Central CA coast have leveled out this week and rested at $3. 09/gallon for Diesel. The reason I purchased the Free Spin Hub kit is that I wanted to acheive the following: better fuel ecomomy, less rotating mass in the front end (vibration and wear factor), get rid of the uni bearings (they are due to wear out), and hopefully it will steer better not having the axles turning...

Install Notes.

Just about finished with the install, bleeding the brakes tonight and going for a test drive tomorrow. pretty much a basic install, I screwed up and destroyed the inner spindle seal on the passanger side, but Dynatrac came to the rescue and send me another one plus a spare. The instructions are decent, but the pictures are out dated and are not for beginners, you have to read between the lines, they are generic, you have to stare and compare for awhile. The Warn Hubs look to be pot metal, I should have broke down and purchased the Dynatrac ones, but did not want to spend the extra money. I used Mobil One synthetic grease which was about $8 per tub and used 2 tubs, I replaced the front pads also and flushed the brake lines. Bottom line so far, no complaints.

I can atest to better fuel mileage with having a free spin hub kit installed. I went with the EMS 35 spline kit on my '07 about 2 months ago. My best unloaded mileage BEFORE the hub conversion was 19. 5 to 20mpg (only saw 20 once) staying at 65 or less. (with the AE ratio G56, I am turning 2K @65mph)
In the last 30 days, I have put on 3500 miles on my truck. my best mileage to date was 22. 3mpg, hand calculated, driving from Seattle Wa. to Yreka, Ca. , about 515 miles. Driving from Yreka, ca. to Kettleman city, Ca. another 500 miles but at 70-75mph (2300rpm), I got 19. 5mpg.
The savings is there... plus little to no wear on the front driveline and most valuable to me is low range 2wd reverse.

Do you guys know if the Dynatrac flat hub selectors would fit my EMS hubs?

Hub Cap Mods

Just about finishing my install w/ Warn lockouts, I remember reading in one of the posts regarding modifying the Hub Caps to fit over the hub, anyone know the hole saw size needed? Also looks like the new lug studs are a little long for the existing cap and may have to be cut down a bit? The install has gone well as I only recently had the existing hubs apart and dealt w/ the disassembly nightmares inherit to the truck. Looking back I probably should have gone w/ the DynaLoc lockout Vs the Warn due to the profile.

What I did for my application was to cut a hole in my hub caps - was to use a jig saw and came out darn near a perfect circle... I used a jar as a pattern. A little rounded file work and it looks like factory stock. Did not seem to have any problem with the lug studs. Yes, the Warn hubs look like they are made my Mattel, but they have worked for years so I guess we can wait and see.

I also wanted to drill a couple of holes in the hubs and install grease fittings to a point centered between the inner and outer wheel bearings so I could add grease as needed thus keeping that area packed as indicated my the Dynatrac instructions... I called Dynatrac and said if I did that would void my warranty... I thought is was a pretty good idea!?
