So my gutbag is dying a slow death. No surprise with my power level I know! Lol

So after researching the options, I have decided to 5600 the 90. After speaking with Blumenthals they said it's about $3850 for the bugger including the $500 core.

Having joined forces with another Ontario TDR member who is looking for a 5600 as well, it looks like they will be able to knock off $500 or so for two of them.

I will throw the question out there as I like helping people as well as getting a good deal! If we are able to get 5600s at $3250 or less, does anyone else want to jump in? I am still a month or so off from finalizing the order so we have a few weeks to save some funds.

If anyone was to ride along with that pricing let me know. As I say there is nothing in this for me, just hoping to see more trucks with beefy tranys and if it helps someone else save $500, I say let's do it! :)

Now in the event you are swapping a fried 5600 for a rebuilt one, you can knock off another $500 as you would be able to send in your core.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Robert

I should find out Tuesday, Wednesday for sure. I think my synchro's are toast, and saving a few hundred bucks would help ease the possible pain immensely. I'll keep you posted.

Have you talked with Standard Transmission in Fort Worth? They might want to offer a price bid.

I did. I actually called them first. I was told they did not have any 5600s right now, and secondly I dont want a 5600. I want a 4500 as they are a better transmission.

Cost was a transmission was also more at $4250.

JK - Ok. Let me know when you know the bad news! ;)

Huh?

Your opening post says quote:

Now you say you don't want a 5600 you want a 4500 because they are better?

Are you confused? A 4500 five speed is DEFINITELY NOT a better transmission.

Did you mean to say that Standard tried to convince you to use a 4500 instead?

I did not mean to confuse you! Yes, I want a 5600 and yes this thread is for 5600's. The post I have above is of my word for word conversation with Standard. They told me the 4500 was better and that I did not want a 5600!

I DO want a 5600. They however feel I do NOT. Lol

Sorry for the confusion. Strait as an inline 6 again? :)

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm disappointed if Standard is telling customers that. It could only be because they have lots of NV-4500s to sell and no NV-5600s.

Yes. I was a little disappointed as well. Not what I had expected. :(

As I do not want this to end up as a Standard bashing thread (that is not my intent!), anyone else looking for a trans?

What about Blumenthal's? They are a major business, and from what I know do great work on those transmissions.

Please, let us know what is available, one can never have enough options, especially with the NV5600. I know sooner or later I will have to have work done on it.

When I had the clutch replaced, they told me the input shaft had more play then normal, and that I should plan on having work done on the transmission in the future. So, I do not know what else would be involved, but when I'm at it I'll have it completely checked out and rebuilt.

If you end up with our group buy you can either just send the transmission back and get a fully rebuilt one that would already be on your doorstep before you pull tr old one out, or you can likely have them rebuild your core and send it back.

Blumenthals is the contracted company for Chrysler that rebuilds all of their 4500/5600. So if you went to the dealer, you would get a Blumenthal transmission back. And they do full rebuilds. You would not have to worry about shaft play etc. It would all be rebuilt or new with warranty top to boot! :)

Does that answer the question? :)
Robert

Thank you Robert. I did not know the dealers use Blumenthal's. Do you know what a full rebuild from them would cost?
