I have one on my truck. I had issues with the spare tire hole and the hinge brackets outboard. I saw someplace where a guy attached his to his tailgate, and it seemed to work well thatta-way.

I put mine on the bottom of the tailgate. cleaned it all with alcohol and put it on with 3-m tape. i took off the tape mounts it came with and and put double sided tape three layers thick to make it level. i did it in 5 spots about 5" long. that was in novenber, still holding strong. robert

The white set of LEDs is there, but doesn't light up much. I tried wiring the whites to the battery directly and found no difference in intensity

led's are kinda funny that way. . if you go and look right at it, it is extremely bright [even from a distance], but they don't output much usable light for distance viewing

same reason most led flashlights are only good for seeing something at close range, past 8' or so, an incandescent bulb light is better

I called Down to PlasmaGlow in Gilbert AZ and talked to a very nice youg lady named Nicole. She was very helpfull, and is getting it taken care of so far. I have to remove it and send it back in.

I had a bad experience with a simular setup from APC. Just the one with red leds, not the white. Both of the new $55 dollar units I had, eventually shorted out internally. I could actually see rust from the moisture fog that would condence inside the clear plastic tube. It rains here in Oregon. Upon closer inspection, I could actually see a tiny hole where the wire would go into the plastic tube and connect to the circuit board inside. I honestly don't think there could be that many people that actually make these things. My guess is they probably ALL come from the same shop in China... :-laf

2 questions...

1. Is the electrical connector a boat type 4-way like on the APC units?

2. Has anyone looked real close to their clear tube and noticed any moisture inside?

I noticed the moisture in mine as well but it went away after awhile, one night when I was out starting the truck to warm up I came out to put some stuff in the cab (It had been raining all day) I could smell hot plastic near the back of the truck, being dark I couldnt see anything so I was going to check in the AM but forgot about it till a week later when I noticed the lights were almost all out! sure enough the end where it goes into the "Tube" was darn near melted off, thats when I contacted PlasmaGlow, so far the light should be there Im going to call monday and check on the status #@$%! I really like mine but these seem to be built kinda cheap.

Anyone have bad luck with the ones from Genos Garage??

Ian

Did anyone get their replacement for their light bar yet? My right turn doesn't work on my light bar. :{ And did you have to send the old one back and how much was shipping?

Sorry guys

Ian

Well , I sent my lightbar back about an hour ago. Talked to Nicole this A. M. she said they had a lot of trouble getting returns shipped by USPS and that it would be better to ship by UPS or Fedex.

So Ian I wouln't give up, just keep bugging the crap out of them!!:D I did ask her if they had alot of problems with the lightbar & she said everyone asks her that!! But they ship out over a hundred a day and only get back a few!:-laf I have heard that before. It seems kinda funny that we have had 2 or 3 just here.

Plus it cost me over $17. 00 to send back. :{ It was only $80 new. Lets hope they last longer a couple of months.

Hmmm . . . light bar doesn't like those thoroughly rock-salted Cleveland highways too well, huh seemore? ;)

Salt you say, we don't use no stinking SALT we use Liquid & Powdered RUST, just drive down the roads & the nice State truck will give you a free rust spay lol:{ Our cars & trucks last a good 2-3 years before they rust out!! What's $50,000 every 2-3 years:rolleyes:

When I took the light bar off it was pretty damp all along the 60" of it. I sure hope the new ones are more salt & water resistant!!

Well anyway Vaughn, it was good talking to someone from the opposite coast!

seemore it just amazed me to see people out driving vehicles a lot more expensive than yours in the salty slush. I'd never seen a black $80,000 Bimmer sedan completely coated white with dried salt crystals. Not 'til I went to Cleveland in the winter! The only holes you see in vehicles around here are caused by bullets :-laf

It was nice seeing you guys in Medina :)

GOOD NEWS GUYS!

well after the drama I had a package come today, went to the office to pick it up and it was a new fire/ice light bar!! different design and they might have fixed the problem of moisture... curved design, more silicone on the ends especially where the plug wires are at. Im happy with the changes... . lets just see how long this will last. Im somewhat happy they changed the design!!

Brandon at Genos garage is A+ thanks bud!! I guess Genos Garage is going to drop the light bar in the next issue catalog due to the high failure rates of these buggers.

Ian

i received my lightbar last week. mounted it up and all that works on it is the running lights, left brake and left blinker. i didnt even hook up the reverse. it will be going back this week! too bad i bought it before reading this thread!... . james

Mine has a hole in the plastic close to the plug, I have no idea how this happened, I will just try to plug before it rains again
