i know that i am interested in the shifter and it sounds like a lot of other people are as well. I talked to Pat BD and he said that he would have see if he could do it. let see how many people we can get maybe we can get it a little cheaper.
it is a short throw shifter. it reduces the throw up to 50% from what i have heard. there is another post real close this one if you want to see what others are saying.
The price is the only thing holding me back...come on tax return!!! I am in for a group deal. If we don't get a group rate, then I will just be eating less for a week or so.
I sent BD an e-mail and got back a Adobie PDF file of the install instructions . . good pic's included on it... . it ya want a copy E-mail me and I'll foward *** thanks Pat at BD
I had great intentions to take some pictures last night when I did the installation, as well as take some before & after measurements of the throw distances. Of course, it turned into something like Christmas morning as I rushed right into the installation and forgot all about documenting it. I didn't get any installation instructions from BD, but just looking at the parts along with a glance at the service manual instructions for R&Ring the shifter made it obvious enough.
The kit consists of a replacement shifter (the lower part) with the pivot located about 3/4 to 1 inch higher (that's what reduces the throw lengths); a spacer plate that thick that moves the pivot up higher; and four longer sleeves & bolts to bolt the shift tower back together.
Total time including test drive was 1. 5 hour. I went kind of slowly, as I was cramped in the garage with access only on the driver's side, and only able to open the driver's door to the first detent. Squeezing in and out chasing tools probably took up most of the time.
Bottom line: I really like the result, although now I have to get used to the shift pattern all over again.
