I didn't see this post until after i ordered mine. Oh well, at this point i could care less about the price break. I just want the shifter. It's been a week since i ordered, and it had not shown up so i called BD. Looks like they are on back order with no idea of release date Man i freaking hate that. Ive put short throw shifters in everything i've driven, and it just makes it more fun to drive. I was so happy to hear about this product, and now i have to wait Come on guys my type A personality can not handle this stress, I need it now. I'm in need of a bombing fix. I haven't done anything to the truck in 3 days, and now im out of parts. Heck i'll give you an extra 20 bucks if you ship mine first PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. lmao
I bit the bullet and ordered mine today. I hope it is a quality piece. I would have liked the price to be around $130. 00 but if the shifter works real well, I will be satisfied.
The backorders are supposed to be taken care of this week sometime according to the person I talked to at Geno's.
I believe that it is. My main concern was that there might not be sufficient attention to hardening in the making of this piece. I had visions of the tip of the operating rod breaking off and destroying my trans. But it was pretty easy to see by the colors of the steel that the process used in making the new part is very much like that used in making the original.
By the way. . I like it! I find that I've got to pay closer attention when shifting, especially getting fourth gear, because the gates seem closer together and harder to differentiate, but the shifts are faster and positive. Notchy kind of - it almost clicks into gears.
Make sure you check the length of the 4 allen hd. cap screws, they should be 2 1/4", I had one that was 2", would not reach threads. Around here bolts in 1/4" increments are hard to find, had to cut off a 2 1/2", it might have worked, but didn't want to take a chance.
Haven't ordered mine yet for the group pricing, but the price of the kit WAS $195 before it was really released. We got a price of $170 for group... to me just an O. K. price for the group.
Just got the new issue of the TDR, and in with it a new geno's catalog. The list price for the kit is NOW $185. I will still probably order even if my truck will not be here for another month, but it doesn't seem like that great of a deal. I would of liked to have seen around $140-150.
