Grover Air Horn installed!

I finally got the air horn, tank, and compressor installed. I have to say this is the best i've ever spent next to the truck itself . I haven't had a need to USE it, but then again not too many people pull out in front of something as big as our trucks. :{ Here is a link to my readers rig for some photos.

That's nice! I've been wanting to do this for quite some time. Have you had a chance to see how functional the system is for things besides the horn ie. filling up tires, air tools, etc. ?

I dont think it has enough to operate any air tools, and I check my tire pressure often so they're fine right now. I have used the air nozzle to blow out the trucks floors and the bed of the truck a few times. It worked great for that, it will do the whole inside and the bed and if I let the comp. run when I do it, it gets down to about 40 psi or so. The thomas comp. fill the tank in about 90-120 seconds from empty.

I have a 2 Gal. Air tank, 12V compressor, and 24" Grover sitting in my basement (amongst other things :-laf ) awaiting a warmer day! Oo.

tim, I couldn't be more happy with the job dick did. Top notch and well worth every penny. I would like to and a few things, such as an LED on the dash to let me know when the compressor is on and another toggle switch under the dash to overide the comp if needed. I noticed you have it installed right over the exhaust manifold.

Do you have any problems with the horn getting hot?

i ve got he same tank and a arb compressor, what size of air line did you use to feed the horn, how long can you hold a single blast, ie does it run out quick. Im looking towards train horns, so tridoms and dont know if my tank, equivilent to yours will be enough. How do you set them off, just a pull cord and valve in the cab?

Rotty, I just got to work this morning, and I can hold on to the horn all day. It is slightly warm. I don’t have a laser thermometer so I cant give you an exact temp. , but I don’t think its going to hurt the horn. DMulock, I don’t know what size air like but here is a link, http://ricksontruck.com/airhorns_installation.html , as far as length of blast, I haven't let out a blast longer than about 30-40 sec. and was on the road at the time, so I couldn't tell how much longer it would have gone, but my guess would be for quite a while. I have mine wired into the factory horn switch in the wheel, with a toggle switch next to the OBDII port under the dash. When I get some more time I'll post some pics and the actual wiring diagram that was used.

Hey Driver, sorry about that! Haven't seen you around in a while! Hope those Pilatus' are flying well for you!



That is a good place for the horn, keeping it out of the elements. I'd rather it got a little warm than caked full of mud or water.
