took 64,000 miles but I finally dented my rear bumper ... ... ... ... . shoved it into the bed corner as well :mad:

the worst part is, I was backing down from the garage to the house after changing my fuel filter and backed into the power pole that has been standing there for 10 years :rolleyes:

other than a few scratches from brush and the typical beat up bed, this is the 1st body damage this truck has sustained :{

I'm pretty sure I can pull the bumper back and rub the paint out to hide it some, the the crease in the 02thin sheet metal bumper may be a different story ... ... ... ... maybe a couple well placed blows from the back side :confused:

Yeah, know exactly what you mean. I laid a small block plane on the rear bumper, turned around to get something else and then opened the tail gate. As soon as the tail gate came down I was saying OH SHUCKS! Too late I have this nice round dimple. Wife said "sure glad it was you and not me!" Keep grinnin.

don't feel to bad, I backed up into a fire hydrant with this rusted metal structure surrounding it with only a few hundred miles on odo. Worst thing about it was it happened because I was backing up and trying to check out some hot babe at the same time. Try explaing that one to your old lady :-{}

The rest will be easy! The hard part is coming up with a cool story to tell your friends. "Uh, yeah, that's where the Ford PSD hit me. His truck was totalled!"#ad

Don't worry ... now it looks MEAN!! I have a few dents in my truck that I figured "aw the heck with it ... its a truck".

Geno's has the part for you part#50101 :D :-laf Sounds like old timers is setting in, you better get it checked out, next thing you'll back into the garage door!!!! :eek:

Consider yourself lucky compared to my fiasco. The day after i bought my truck brand new the neighbor comes over and wants to hear it. My trucks a stick so i stuck my right leg on the clutch to start it. After it starts i assume(i know) that the truck is in neutral and pop the clutch. The truck takes off with my garage about 3 feet away and the garage door closed. To be so suprised i was shocked that i reacted so quickly. I took off after it and barely got in the truck door before it slammed closed hitting the doorway of the garage. Did i mention that that the hood was opened? I got it stopped after hearing the worst can opener sounds you have ever heard. I backed it up through the closed garage door it just went through, the hood that used to be forward now against the windshield, literally in shock. After getting it out i needed a new garage door, a new hood, new fenders(the hood pried the tops of the fenders up), a new grill, the plastic piece on the cowl, a new A/C condensor, and my drivers door after hitting the garage entry. I killed it in the drive and my neighbor and i must have stood there 5 minutes before either of us even said a word! Anyway, a great 5000 mistake that will not be so carelessly repeated.

Please describe how you felt immediately after disaster. Shock , suicidal tendencies ? I can't begin to imagine how you must have felt after watching that train wreck in a matter of seconds.

GOT PICTURES?? : :--)

I would have said "no way that just happened" Just like in the movie Tommy Boy when the deer messed up the car.

I backed into a cement light pole pedestal (with no pole attached) a while back. I bought a new bumper from FenderWorld on ebay for about $250. Great service. I also ordered a vented/notched 5th wheel tailgate so that I can see behind the truck when I am backing up. I really like the tailgate. Rember, it's just a truck.

Contrary to what your impression may be, this truck is used! The inside of the bed is beat to hell and is missing huge amounts of paint ... ... ... ... . the inside of the cab usually has horse ****, dog hair or bits of hay in it (no pop cans, fast food bags or "sticky stuff"), usually has mud and or road grime on it, and quite regularly has a significant load on it ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . but, when I do have a complete detail inside/out, it shines like new :D

:-laf I gotta tell you this, after I posted this, I had a nightmare :-laf

I was chasing somebody through some city and I couldn't go anywhere without backing into something ... ... ... ... that 1st dent is traumatic whether it's 64 miles or 64,000 miles ... ... ... ..... should I seek some counceling? :-laf

dpatt67, Well, and what could a neighbor say?? in some parts of the country the wrong word in a situation like that could get a person shot!!!

My truck lost it's virginity while backing the camp trailer into a site in one of those NF campgrounds, if you have ever been in one you know where they place those big rocks to keep everyone from driving on the grass and they are so low you cant see them in the mirrors :eek: :eek: #@$%!

The doctor will see you now! ;)

Yeah, it definitely was a bad day. What was worse, the body shop had the truck for a month(which is fun when you just bought a 43k truck), and then i had to take it back 9 times over the next 3 months for them doing such a crappy job. I about went ballistic. What topped it off was the body guy telling me after i had pointed out the flaws when i took it back the 7th time that "well, perfection takes time". I guess it does when you don't know what the hell your doing.
