Anybody have any firsthand experience with the Great Southern Insulation Sound Stop Product? I am interested in applying some noise reduction material to the inside of my truck cab to take some of the road and engine noise out. I have reviewed most of the other sound suppression threads on the board. What I want to know is if anyone has used this particular product and what the results were? Is there another product you would recommend that you do have experience with?

I am also considering the dynamat stuff, but it is a bit pricey.

Joe,

Greg Long (Lsfarm), our resident Noize Nazi, has tried I think

about every sound supression product known to man on

his truck, and I have shared a ton of emails with him of this

subject. He recommends the SoundStop "super foam" very

highly.

I have installed a layer of the 1/2" foam on the floor and 2 layers

on the back cab wall, also on the rear quad cab doors and just

ordered more that will go on the main doors. So far, I really like it.

It is pretty easy to handle and install, and seems to work very

well for me.

I used the 1/2" 'Super Foam' from GSI and have been very pleased. This product is easy to work with and performs as advertised. I wanted to go with their 1/2" closed cell foam on the floor in case of spills or leaks, but felt it was too expensive (about $2 more per square ft). GSI was very helpful, knew what I was after, and was eager to provide the 15% discount when I mentioned the TDR. I will finish my project (door panels) when I get a break in the weather. With the floor, back wall, and ext. cab inner walls done, sound levels are greatly diminished.

Joe, I also have used the 1/2" GSI Super Foam and I am pleased with the results. GSI also sells something similar to Dynamat, but its cheaper. Its called "GSI Sound Damping Sheet". It is 1/16 of an inch thick. KL

Noise reduction Thread

Hi JRodgers, check out this thread below, kind of the granddaddy of the noise reduction threads.

There are a bunch of photos in it. The GSI foam is the best product I've found and tested so far. There might be other comparable or better products, but not that I have used. There are some other recent noise reduction threads using new and different products.

My best results are using lead sheet first then covering it with GSI soundstop foam
