I was racing a Camero yesterday, and the defuel at 2700 rpm killed me!!! I still won of course once the transmission shifted. I was just wondering if the kit is gonna increase my acceleration?? What do you think Holshot??

GSK and speed

I found, after the installation of a 4000 GSK, that it continues to fuel right up to and beyond 4000 RPM. I don't think that a dyno will see any difference in HP but on the street... OH MAMA, OH MY GAUD! That GSK coupled with a fuel plate and some other inexpensive goodies in a 12 valver and you have got one mean Camero eating machine. IMHO, the GSK is right up there with the fuel plate for the favorite after market add on.

I went from around 83 MPH before the GSK to 92-93 after in the 1/4 mile, and there is NO defueling... . the best mod other than a fuel plate!:D

Jim,

I noticed that in your signature you didn't mention what, if any, trans. mods you have. I was curious because that kind of mph in the 1/4 seems really high for a stock auto. What was your ET? Also, when accelarating up to the low 90 mph range, what are your max egt's? I see up to 1250 degrees continued WOT when I accelerate on the highway.

I bought the truck wreaked so I dont know if anything has been done to the trans, as far as I know its stock. . and I have never driven any other auto CTD's so have no comparison to go by. All I know is once when I had the little cover on the bottom of the bell houseing off the TC was a light green color. when I step on it the fluid coupling(or whatever its called) grabs right at about 1750 RPM and at light throtle it shifts into lockup right at 45 MPH (30 MPH in D ) sound simular to yours?.

When I did that run I was alone and couldnt do too many things at once. . so I didnt time it so I dont know the ET, but it wasnt really very long!:D

and I didnt look at the EGT's eather. . but normaly on my test hill 6% grade @90 MPH/35 psi boost, its only about 1200-1250

I have the 4000 RPM GSK in my truck and IT ROCKS My truck has alot of mods.

I just help another rammer with a 95 install the 3000 RPM kit in his CTD. All this guys has is a 230 plate but the GSK really woke his up also.

GO for it!!!!!

LOL @ Deezul 1. One Sat night you and I need to go out to Valley Mills Drive and smoke everything, we will be in your truck of course. I guess we can flip to see who gets to pay the tickets if we get caught... . :--)

Guess I gotta give ol Piers another call. :D

You got plans to visit our little BOMB party on the 6th John? Got a set of 3K springs going in.

Jim,

Based on your comments regarding the shifting characteristics of your 95 CTD, it sounds as if it may be stock. Mine shifts exaclty like you mentioned. I should note, however, since the addition of a #5 plate in place of the #8, the stock trans. is definetly not happy. Anything more than 1/4 throttle while in overdrive lockup will send it slipping off into oblivion. After I have about 2000 rpm registering, it seems to grab okay while in OD lockup. I haven't seen the look of either a stock or aftermarket TC so I am reluctant to comment on whether or not what you witnessed was origanal. Do you think that my egts ( 1250- 1300) seem high? It has been ( gasp) 20,000 miles since I last cleaned my K & N. I am beginning to think this may be causing a restriction that could be contributing to the elevated egts, either that or the cat is plugged or I am just not used to the added fuel delivery ( and associated temps) of the #5 plate since I installed it. What hp & torque level is your plate approx. ?

I am sure a dirty filter will increase EGTs, and 1250-1300 does seem a bit high, but not too bad for WOT. my plate is 230/605. I am told. it should be the #6 but I am not sure of that. all I know is that it hauls (_. _)... :D

Jim

... Come on guys, does the GSK really make THAT BIG a difference? I coulda swore not that long ago, after a plate installation, guys were saying that injecters were the next step... Is the GSK really the way to go??? ... and how much can my stock auto take? Will installing the GSK cause even more stress on my transmission? It feels like my transmission is starting to slip already!

Thanks for your thoughts!
