Is there any difference between the 3000gsk and the 4000gsk in acceleration? How much rpm can i run before changing the valve springs?

I believe about 3400 is the outside limit without the heavier springs, if I'm wrong ya'll feel free to correct me here. I just put in the 3000 rpm kit last weekend. Not what I'd call a "fun" job by any stretch of the imagination but it was definitly worth it Oo.

I ran the 4Ks for about a year then switched to the 3K springs. I noticed a surprisingly large difference. The 4ks are much nicer as far as drivability. I seldom rev over 3000prm but with the 4Ks it seems to pull better between 2000-3000. The 3Ks still pull OK above 2500 but it seems like the gov is trying to defuel and you really have to pound your foot on the floor to get the most out of it, like you are fighting the governor for that last bit of fuel. With the 4Ks you don't get this till above 3000 so I feel more like I'm doing the driving, not the governor. It's on my list to switch back to the 4Ks asap.

Larry, Somone said it is just the little springs that you need to go to the 4k kit. Is that right? I might consider upgrading to a 4k kit if I don't have to change everything.

The actual difference as I understand it is just the little springs. I swapped the stock small springs back in to go from the 4K to 3K.



Problem is you need the 60# valve springs on both intake and exhaust in order to safely use the 4K kit. I wanted to use higher pressures for better braking with my E-brake so I need 60# exhaust springs anyway and decided to go with 60# intake springs and the 4K gov springs all at the same time.

How much does it cost to get the baby springs to make a 3k kit to a 4k kit?

I'm guessing about $100USD for the little springs and twelve 60lb valve springs.
