does anyone have any ideas on how to get a guage cluster. i lost my tach about a year ago, and thru this site have determined that the cluster is bad. went to the local dealer and they won't sell me the part, they say it has to be done in their shop, and i have to leave it overnight. is this true or are they just looking for some shop time. i have had the cluster out once, it really isn't that hard. not sure why i can't bring them the old one, they can match the mileage and send me the new one

do you have the dealership name and town, as i have checked with all the dealers withtn a 100 mi radius of here, and all are telling me the same thing

My 0. 02-
My truck is an 05, I acknowledge the situation may be different for an 06 (making all these words worthless... ) but I'll offer my experience anyway...

I experienced gauge cluster failure in the mode of electronics don't go to sleep when turned off, and the result was batteries going dead (search my previous posts... ) I had to replace the gauge cluster. Dodge dealer (Auburn NY) did not require it done at their facility. They sold me one over the counter, but they would not let me have possession of both clusters at the same time; I had to bring my old cluster in and surrender it to them at the same time they gave me the new one over the counter.

Note: On my truck, the keyless entry receiver module plugs into the back of the gauge cluster. If your truck has keyless entry, you may want to make same check. Mine is about the size of a box of tic tacs, black box that inserts into rear near center of gauge cluster. Have to unplug it from old cluster and plug into new cluster. If forgotten, it means taking everything apart again...

IIRC, the cost of the new gauge cluster I paid was just over $600. My truck has about 39K miles on it. I think it's crazy to have to worry about failures such as this within 5 years of new, at any mileage.

this is why i love this site, it is in the mail to them today, they said i would have it back in my hand in a week. they didn't even want a CC number until they diagnosed. guaranteed me it would not be more than $230. 00. i'll respond when i get it back. ps, there is a youtube video on how to access this in the dash of an '06 that helped me a ton. pss------ i love proving the dealerships wrong hooooo yaaaaaaa

Sometimes I wonder if people catch some of the info I put on here...

This proves that they do and it is worth doing so I will continue to keep digging stuff up!!!!!!!

Let us know how it turns out, quality of the repair, etc.

A lot of screwed up clusters out there just waiting for a cheaper repair option such as this.

Mike. :)
