MKopf,
What do you want to bet there's a direct connection between the work you had done and the oil and temp gauges not working now?
First I'd check to see if the engine oil pressure sensor and the engine coolant sensor are securely plugged into their respective wiring harness connectors. The oil pressure sensor is located on the left side of the engine block above the starter. It's actually a bit hard to see. The engine coolant sensor is on the left front of the cylinder head.
If they're both plugged in properly, then another thing these two sensors share in common is they're both grounded through the ECM (Engine Control Module) through a splice in the engine wiring harness near the ECM,
which is in the driver's side of the engine, right in front of the lift pump (assuming it's still in the stock location). You might take a look at the wiring harness around there for anything strange.
However, other critical sensors are also grounded through that same splice, so I'm guessing you'd have more problems if that splice were damaged.
You might also want to check fuse number 17 and 14 in the fuse junction block on the driver's side of the instrument panel (in the cab). They supply power to the instrument cluster. Once you're sure they're both OK, then run a self-test on the instrument cluster as follows:
With the ignition key off, press and hold the trip reset button on the odometer, turn the ignition key to on (don't start the engine) and continue to hold the trip reset button until the instrument cluster enters self-test, then release. At the end of the test if there's a problem, you'll see an error code displayed in the odometer window. If you get an error code, let us know what it is.
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
Regards,
John L.
